STAR WARS Video Games Enter A New Era With The Launch Of Lucasfilm Games For All Upcoming Titles

We've been treated to a lot of Star Wars games over the past few years, but it's now been revealed that all future titles will debut under the "Lucasfilm Games" label. Find more details after the jump...

Since Disney took charge of Lucasfilm, we've had two Star Wars Battlefront games and Jedi Fallen Order, a title that deepened the mythology of the continuity established by the studio in recent years.

The hope is that a sequel to that game is in the works, and while a third Battlefront instalment would be appreciated, that's a series which could do with being overhauled. Regardless of what's next (we're hoping for a game set in the world of The Mandalorian), the future is definitely looking bright for titles set in a Galaxy Far, Far Away.

As you can see below, Lucasfilm has announced that they're, "entering a new and unprecedented phase of creativity, so will the world of Lucasfilm Games - developed in collaboration with the finest studios across the industry."

This will be the new, official identity for all gaming titles coming our way from Lucasfilm, and they've launched new social channels on Twitter (@LucasfilmGames) and Facebook (@LucasfilmGames).

Those will reportedly deliver "breaking news and more directly to fans."

It's a shame this announcement wasn't accompanied by a new game reveal, but there are rumblings of more than a few titles currently in the works. For now, you can relive some of the studio's recent greatest hits by checking out the sizzle reel below:

That sounds like EA lost their exclusive right to make mediocre star wars games, aside from fallen order. Maybe naughty dog's secret project is one of them 🤯

@bobevanz - I don't see that. Naughty dog seems more comfortable with original ips. Considering this is a secret project, I'd see it being something they've already worked on, like crash, Jak, uncharted, or last of us.

@bobevanz - Yeah EA destroyed any goodwill with Star Wars games due to their gambling and looting system for dlc. If it wasn't for Jedi Fallen Order, Star War games will be dead.

Lets just hope they actually make good games because they already failed before and that's why they were only licensing it to EA. Disney should make a label for Marvel games too, or license it to Sony

@Origame - Insomniac have been doing Spidey and Insomniac and Naughty Dog are like sibling companies so I wouldn't rule out Naughty Dog adapting something too.

@BritishMonkey - not really. They basically are just friendly with each other and have similar development histories. Yes, its possible. But since they never did an existing ip outside of sequels to their own games, I wouldn't count on it.

The LEGO games are the best. I can play as jar jar binks or rose tico or episode 1 anakin or dexter jettster without being criticized.

@RokoVII - Only if they actually updated the visuals and controls and not just a straight port of the original game.

Disney's SW video games have been a mixed bag so far but god I love BF2 2017. Honestly the best SW game I've ever played (aside from the originals)

There’s been 3 games developed since Disney took over. You forgot Squadrons.

Jedi Fallen Order was great, especially from a story standpoint. More of stuff like that, please!

Hopefully this isn't as disastrous as that cluster[frick] they tried with EA.

Also I wouldn’t get too excited about open world games from Ubisoft. *cough* breakpoint *cough* the division*. Ubisoft open world games mostly lack story driven narratives
