THE BOYS Star Karl Urban Reveals His Secret Cameo In STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER

Karl Urban has become a pro when it comes to genre movies thanks to memorable roles in the likes of Star Trek and Thor: Ragnarok. At the moment, he's kicking all sorts of ass as Billy Butcher in The Boys, but it's now been revealed that he also paid a visit to a Galaxy Far, Far Away last year.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Urban confirmed that he made a cameo appearance in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Visiting his friend J.J. Abrams on set, it was then the actor was asked to suit up. "While I was there, he put me in a Stormtrooper uniform and we had a really fun day on set. It's been one of my life-long goals to be a Stormtrooper, so I can tick that off now."

The scene in question comes when Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren come aboard the Star Destroyer for the first time. "What is in the cut is my voice saying 'Knights of Ren' as Kylo Ren walks down a hallway past two Stormtroopers," the actor added. "I am one of those Stormtroopers."

Daniel Craig and Tom Hardy are among some of the other noteworthy names to have made cameo appearances as Stormtroopers in the new Star Wars movies, though many others are believed to have done the same. Even Prince William and Prince Harry were rumoured to have donned a suit at one point!

Are you guys looking forward to season two of The Boys

So many talented actors wasted in stormtrooper suits and in the worst movies of the franchise.

These "secret cameos" are pretty [frick]ing dumb. Not only they cover their faces, defeating the whole purpose of a cameo, they do it in some of the worst Star Wars movies ever. Joseph Gordon-Levitt did it too in The Last Jedi and it was equally stupid.

@NewAtrocitus3 - It's something the actors want to do for themselves, in a franchise they are big fans over. Why is that dumb?

@NewAtrocitus3 - Joseph Gordon-Levitt was taking a break from acting when TLJ was in production, so he probably just did that cameo since him and Rian did 2 films together already. Makes sense to me.

@MosquitoFarmer - Because the only reason we know they did cameos was because they told us. It's like they were eater eggs, but even more annoying.

@NewAtrocitus3 - Like anyone who geeked out enough over the franchise to the extent that they were allowed to appear as a simple storm trooper on the silver screen wouldn't want to brag about it...

And you act like they weren't asked whether they were going to appear in the upcoming Star Wars movies by interviewers. After a point, why shouldn't they be allowed to say with joy, yeah I was that storm trooper right there?

If only they put so much effprt into making a solid movie as they put in these cameos. I rewatched TRoS and it is by far the worst of the Disney movies (maybe even wors than TPM).

TRoS, in my opinion fails in structure, timing (fetch quests instead of story building), use of lore, character arcs and even the story itself. It has some cool ideas, but fails hard in execution.

Rogue One on the other hand, does not fail in my opinion. That might be the only one that really enriches the world of Star Wars with interesting characters, locations and story.

Why are people so mad about these cameos? They are completely harmless and I personally think it's kinda cute/funny to put some of the biggest movie stars behind masks, rather than shove it in your face with "look kids, it's Tom Hardy" kind of way. Plus, they don't stop them from having actual roles in future Star Wars projects, if they feel like it.

Or wait, are we supposed to blindly hate it solely because we are talking about the sequel trilogy.?

It's Star Wars. That's been the default reaction since the 80s.

Me: The Knights of Ren look cool, I hope they get a big action scene

Disney: Lol, stupid fanboy. They were included to sell toys, not have any meaningful bearing on the plot.

Rise of Skywalker was so lazy and the “knights of Ren” line was so throwaway that it’s practically a microcausim of how shoddily this trilogy was put together

When you brag about a secret cameo in an awful film...

I honestly hope Abrams returns to Star Trek and makes one more film on par with the 2009 one.

I Would have still kept it secret and never ever admitted to being in it.
