THOR Star Natalie Portman Reveals How She Looks Back On Her Time As Padmé Amidala In STAR WARS

Long before joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Natalie Portman was part of a Galaxy Far, Far Away in the Star Wars prequels, and the actress has now revealed how she feels about her time as Padme.

Thor: Love and Thunder star Natalie Portman has always chosen her words carefully when talking about the Star Wars prequels, but it's never really sounded like they were a highlight of her career.

Playing Padmé Amidala certainly helped put her on the map, of course, and the character remains an incredibly important part of this franchise's mythos. During a recent interview with Yahoo Movies, Portman was asked how she looks back at the Star Wars prequels at this point in her career.

"It’s so fun to be part of something that kids relate to so much," she admits. "I haven’t shown my kids the movies yet - I think it’s so weird for them to think of me as anything other than their mom. They’ve seen the recent Star Wars movies that I am not in - my son has, my daughter, is too young."

"It feels really lucky to be part of something that’s every child’s imaginary world," Portman added. "It’s very exciting to be able to impress my kids a little bit."

That likely influenced Portman's decision to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the new God of Thunder, and it's good that she's able to take some positives away from what turned out to be a difficult, highly divisive trilogy of movies.

What are your thoughts on the legacy of George Lucas' Star Wars prequels?

With amazing scenes like these I can't imagine why she wouldn't want to subject her children to some of the finest acting in a galaxy far far away.

@BigMikeReviews - Portman's acting in TPM is just as bad if not worse than Hayden in ATOC. Change my mind.

She probably didnt want her kids to question why Padme is banging a dude who was literally a child their age in the first film while she looked the same age throughout.

@Himura - I always thought Padme's species from Naboo wouldn't age as quick as other humans did.
My mind kinda mixed some Star Trek lore with SW

When The Last Jedi came out I believe was the first time I truly felt how prequel haters felt. They weren't good by a stretch but never as bad as people made them out to be.
But with TLJ I felt it, someone sh*t over what I loved, someone nearly destroyed a world I had percieved I knew before.

I hope Daisy Ridley manages to get out of the same swamp Natalie escaped from

I liked her in the role, even when she had to play as the monotonous queen in Episode I.

"They’ve seen the recent Star Wars movies that I am not in - my son has, my daughter, is too young."

Not introducing your children to Star Wars with the OT first is already questionable, but to start them off with the sequel trilogy, now that is just criminal.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - we live in different times now. Kids grow up with Rey, Finn and BB8 while others grew up with Obi-Wand and Anakin. Those that grew up with Luke, Leia and Han will always feel differently about their era of SW.

@Blergh - It doesn't even make sense to start with the new Trilogy. Out of all the films, they rely the most on the previous ones. Any kid introduced with The Force Awakens would be very confused by who Han, Chewie, and Leia are. What the Jedi are, what the force is, why Kylo Ren is worshipping a random helmet, etc. And they'll be even more confused when they get to 8 and 9.

It was Padme Amidala that made Episode II watchable.
