VIDEO GAMES: STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT Set To Be Released In Summer 2015?

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen has talked more about their new partnership with Disney and LucasFilm, revealing that the recently announced Star Wars: Battlefront is set to be released alongside J.J. Abrams' Star Wars Episode VII. Will it tie-in to the movie?

In a stockholders conference call yesterday, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen revealed a possible release date for DICE's upcoming next-gen Star Wars: Battlefront reboot. "We have partnered with Walt Disney and LucasFilm to develop a whole new generation of Star Wars games for the console as well as for mobile and handheld devices. he first game that we're focused on is Battlefront. It's a traditional game that's done extremely well and this will most likely come out around the same time as the Star Wars movies start to come out, probably in the summer of '15." While it makes sense for them to release the game around the same time as Star Wars Episode VII, this makes you wonder whether the reboot will feature characters and locations from the new movies. Probably to some degree, but I am wondering how much of Episode VII they would be willin to reveal to a gamin studio, especially how they would have to give them that stuff early so it can be worked into the game while they are still filming, unless they can build the rest of the game with existing Sfar Wars stuff and squeeze in that stuff at the last minute. They were able to do it with Battlefront II, but that game released with the DVD release of Episode III, not the theatrical release.

I LOVED the first Battlefront game, and liked the second. This and the Arkham and GTA series' may make me start playing video games again...

Not surprised. I always guessed that the game might take a stab at three campaigns in the same way that Battlefront II had two campaigns: Each one revolving around stories and battles taking place in each trilogy, and some shape or form of narrative to tie them all together.

It'll be interesting as we get locations and weapons/vehicles from all the generations, including the new trilogy.

It's certainly much better than making a full blown movie game anyways.

This would be good if it were for XBOX 360 - but its not.... its for that next-gen turd and overpriced XBOX ONE...

Forget it! - I mean I want battlefront bad but not THAT bad. No way am i gonna waste £420 on a console that isn't as good as its predecessor.

@SimyJo EA is going to keep releasing game for current gen consoles till 2017 and they will probably release this for the PS3 and PS4 as well.
