We Now Know Why Prince William And Prince Harry's Cameos Were Cut From STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI

The details of why Prince William and Prince Harry's cameo appearance never made the final cut of Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi have finally been revealed. Can you guess what the reason was?

Before Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released, it was rumored that Princes William and Harry had visited the set and would have cameos in the movie as Stormtroopers. We later learned that, unfortunately, their cameos had been cut from the movie.

The reason? Their height.

A source close to the production recently revealed the specifics of why the cameo appearnces were cut: "Stormtroopers have to be exactly 5ft 11in.  At the time we shot it I think the feeling was that the scene would make the final movie.  The scene just didn't work for the final cut so it was left out."

The scene that was cut featured the Princes, along with actor Tom Hardy and singer Gary Barlow, playing Stormtroopers who were escorting the characters Finn, Rose, and DJ into an elevator. John Boyega (Finn), Hardy, and Barlow are all 5ft 9in, while Prince William is 6ft. 3in, and Prince Harry is 6ft. 1in. With Boyega's character Finn having been a Stormtrooper in the previous movie, and Hardy and Barlow's heights matching his, it made the Princes appear much taller than the average Stormtrooper and caused them to stand out in the scene.

We may still get to see the Princes in action in the deleted scenes included on the Star Wars: The Last Jedi  Blu-ray release, as we've been promised between 20 and 30 minutes of bonus material.

@HeavyMetal4Life - perfect reaction. That man is 4'2" tall yet somehow looks like he's 6' in every movie.

There should be more variety with stormtroopers

I really like that they try to do this with movies. Thor Ragnarok was all the better when Matt Damon dropped in. By the way when rewatching Thor I split a gut when I noticed the lame looking Warriors Three in the back of the play. That was soooo funny and I did not notice the first time around.

@CaptainCBM -

Rian is basing his knowledge of the original series and i dont believe he actually watched 'The Force Awakens' or understands that the Storm Troopers are no longer clones.

Why do all Stormtroopers all have to be the same height? It's not like they're clone troopers.

Why do we even have stormtroopers in this new trilogy.

I feel like we should have never had the Imperial remnants as the main bad guys of the Trilogy after Return of the Jedi it feels pretty redundant. You could make an argument it makes sense the Empire wouldn't just vanish after the Emperor dies but you could have just said that the Rebels kept fighting them for at least a few more years after Return of the Jedi until they were just completely stomped out and demoralized by Palpatine's death. I feel the First Order isn't that interesting as villains even with what happened in The Last Jedi cause it still feels the same visually at least.

We should have moved in a new direction from the start and even in The Last Jedi, it still is the same "Former Skywalker/Solo with giant army of white armored soldiers fighting small group of rebels with young inexperienced Jedi who helps them".
