It Sounds Like Josh Trank's Planned Boba Fett STAR WARS Spinoff Was Much Further Along Than We Realized

Josh Trank's Boba Fett-focused Star Wars anthology film was obviously a lot further into development than we'd realized, as there was even a teaser trailer that would have debuted at Celebration 2015!

You may recall that just before Star Wars Celebration 2015 was due to commence, Josh Trank was abruptly removed from the panel. We were told this was down to "illness", but we later discovered that the Chronicle director was actually taken off Lucasfilm's planned Boba Fett standalone movie because of his bonkers behavior while shooting Fox's Fantastic Four reboot.

The tale of the uber-popular bounty hunter was pushed back, and the Han Solo movie took its original 2018 release date - but according to EW, Trank's movie was further along than anyone realized and was actually supposed to be officially announced at Celebration with a teaser reel.

Apparently the Boba Fett Anthology film will still happen at some point (2020 is speculated), but how cool would it be to see that shelved footage? Maybe someday!

"Boba Fett STAR WARS Spinoff Was Much Further Along That We Realized"

"That We Realized"

A+ Grammar.

@Mrcool210 - For the record, just having a little fun with the title, the article is good aside from that. Although after Fant4stic not sure if i would have wanted to see Trank on another big franchise just yet.

A good director with problems and a studio that [frick]ed around with him way too much. Even after all that Trank is still doing an Al Capone film with one of Hollywood's biggest actors today. He must've given Tom Hardy one hell of a pitch.

@Kr08 - I'm honestly very happy to hear about this. I hope Trank makes a HUGE comeback.

Two things:

1 - I feel like there's some "news" that weren't ever confirmed. Like "it was because of his bonkers behavior on fantastic four", I mean, do we know that? we don't really now that. People ran with that? yes, but do we honestly know what happened? not really.

2 - I really don't want them to make a Boba Fett movie.

@ODanil - Yes, we know that.

Boba Fett=One of the most overrated characters of all time. Why did people complain about Phasma?

@PeterStarker - This is coming from a Star Wars fan by the way. Not putting down the franchise.

@PeterStarker - I agree he is. Like many we are huge Star Wars fans and Boba never has any scenes to justify him as a badass so my friends and I always joke saying he could potentially be nothing more then a Primmadonna

@DarkArrow19 - THAT'S WHY HE DESERVES A MOVIE! To show him being a badass for once, and who cares if he didn't have a dignified death in Return of the Jedi, most people don't have dignified deaths in real life. Better to die fighting that grow up to be 99, senile and pooping yourself.

@PeterStarker - Boba Fett didn't get a lot of screen time, but he was by far not overrated, in my opinion. After the Falcon followed the "trash" into space, it was Fett who followed him and ended up getting Solo. And he flat out challenged Vader. Not a lot of people did that and lived to tell the story.
