We know very little about what to expect from Darth Vader in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (will he even ignite his lightsaber?), but Entertainment Weekly has shed some light on that and revealed a new batch of images to boot. It sounds like the Sith Lord's relationship with Ben Mendelsohn's Imperial special weapons director Orson Krennic will be a big focus here, and that there's going to be some tension between the two in regards to how they each perceive The Emperor's newly built Death Star.

"Here is the thing about Krennic: his perspective obviously is that of a person who doesn’t understand the Force," says Kiri Hart, Lucasfilm's head of story development. "And Darth Vader comes at everything from the perspective of understanding the Force. So that I think is the thing that you see sort of separating Darth Vader from other characters with regards to a super weapon like this."

"There are military men who are interested in a really effective piece of military hardware, and Darth Vader is a little bit beyond that, right?" he adds. "He’s tapped into something on another level, on a spiritual level. So, that’s part of the fun of Vader in the context of the Imperial Military. He’s got a broader perspective." That should be a lot of fun to see play out in Rogue One next month...

I love the touch of red in the eyes, and the more cloth torso. All akin to the design from 1977.

@Binker - I remember reading somewhere that this is a 100% re-recreation of the '77 suit.

Ah vader, it's been too long old friend. A Star Wars film without Vader didn't feel right.

I really love what they did with the Vader suit... just, that last pic, I find the helmet looks a little loosy goosy around the neck, like if the actor wasn't bulky enough.
But the third pic, Vader looks awesome!

@Highball - I agree, the dude in the suit has a short neck, and doesn't fill the suit out properly. So it looks like a cheap loose helmet. Looks off. Most likely why they had to do lots of re-shoots of Vader. Be a shame to mess him up again. Let's just hope he's not em wearing platforms this time. Nooooooooooo!

It's cool how they kept the red eyes and the gloves. Why isn't the robe covering the chest plate though?

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - I was just thinking how AMAZING the costume looks (not so much on the actual actor though) and how close it resembles ANH...until you mentioned the robes under the armor. Cannot unsee! >_<

All I want from this movie is to finally see a scene of Vader open up a giant can of whoop ass. We have yet to see him unleash that in his prime in any movie. Please do it.
