Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings features two post-credits scenes, with the latter showing the hero's sister Xu Xialing taking charge of the Ten Rings group. After that, a title card hit the screen saying "The Ten Ring Will Return," an ominous warning that's clearly teasing a future story of some sort.
During a recent interview with Screen Rant, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was asked why the title card said teased the Ten Rings instead of promising Shang-Chi's return (which has become the norm for these movies).
"To be honest with you, I think the intention of the first tag makes it very clear that Shang-Chi will return, so we didn’t have to say it again," the producer confirmed. "The end of that second tag was more about the organization itself, the Ten Rings, which it seems, over the course of the movie, that it’s been dismantled and you learn otherwise in that spoiler-filled tag."
"But that was the idea; one, we just didn’t want to put a card...did we even talk about that, Jonathan [Schwartz]? We didn’t even talk about putting in a card for both," Feige added. "But we think that it’s very clear after that first tag that Shang-Chi is returning."
That logic makes perfect sense, and it seems likely the Ten Rings will make an impact outside the Shang-Chi franchise. What that will be remains to be seen, but the mid-credits scene certainly made it clear that the title character is going to have bigger issues to deal with than his sister's new criminal empire.
Where do you guys think the new Ten Rings will first make their presence felt?
