In the video below, Dwayne Johnson talks more about the upcoming Black Adam movie and where things currently stand with the project. However, it gets particularly interesting when the wrestler turned actor reveals that he has someone very specific in mind to take on the role of Shazam.

That is The Lone Ranger and The Man From U.N.C.L.E. star Armie Hammer. A fan-favourite choice for Hal Jordan in Green Lantern Corps, the actor has been teasing fans with the possibility that he'll join the DC Films Universe for some time now. Johnson makes it clear that no talks have taken place but that he has discussed the possibility of Hammer playing Shazam with producers after meeting him.

Given his height and build, Hammer would definitely be a good Shazam to The Rock's Black Adam, but Johnson mentions that other actors have been talked about as well, so it's too soon to start getting excited. Do you think he would make a good Shazam on the big screen? Let us know down below.

I think Channing Tatum has the right look for it.

@TheFamousJMC - Yup. I would much rather he play Shazam than Gambit.

@TheFamousJMC - After 21 Jump Street, I could totally see him in the role.

@TheFamousJMC - No I say John Cena and make it a WWE movie with more practical effects and haad to hand action scenes like WWE PPV events. Image rock choke slamming a kid through a pyramid. Sold!

@TheFamousJMC - Agreed. Acts like a child in 21 Jump Street

@mastakilla39 - I would like Cena, but do he and Rock get along? That WWE shit can be insanely personal sometimes.

Zane Holtz was amazing at being the lead in the From Dusk Til Dawn television series, plus he demonstrates Shazam's charisma in Perks of Being A Wallflower. He's also 6'2 so he can most definitely go up against Rock's build.

Can't see this film happening any time soon.

@BlackBeltJones -

Well, they basically seem to not care about Shazam! at this point. The movie has basically been a vessel for getting Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam - which is why they've announced plans for a Black Adam solo movie and mentioned he is an anti-hero in this version.

I dont expect we'll see either Black Adam or Shazam! anytime soon, Shazam! having a 2019 release date that it certainly wont make given how little focus has been put onto the movie (and the considerable amount of other projects the DCEU is trying to rush out)

I'd guess;
- Black Adam; 2022
- Shazam!; 2025

@BlackBeltJones - I see this happening real soon before any DCEU sequels, green lantern, MOS 2, FLASH, SS2, etc. WB wants to cash in ROCKs stardom and popularity before he starts flopping or gets any older he is already 45 its only going to take a few more years before his age starts to really show. I see Baywatch as his 1st major flop but I could be wrong.

We're getting a Black Adam film potentially....

I better see a New Gods film down the road.
