Shazam and Black Adam are closely tied together, something which was evident from that tantalizing glimpse of the latter in 2019's Shazam! film. While the Black Adam spinoff promises to explore the anti-hero's history, and a team-up/battle with the Justice Society in the present day, it's looking a lot like any sort of crossover really is off the table.
This shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, especially when Zachary Levi has said on a few occasions that he's heard nothing about Shazam crossing paths with Black Adam.
Both films shooting at the same time led to speculation about a meeting of some sort, even if it was to lay the groundwork for a crossover. Unfortunately, Shazam! Fury of the Gods helmer David F. Sandberg clearly has zero input in Black Adam, pointing to the two films being completely separate.
"I don’t even know what’s happening with the Black Adam movie, and that’s a Shazam character, so I’m not really in the loop on these things," the director admitted on Twitter.
This is disappointing to hear, and while there's every possibility that things will change, it seems Warner Bros. is continuing to prioritise making standalone features rather than crossover events.
