SHAZAM! Director Shares A Cool New Shot Of Zachary Levi Suited Up And The Entire Shazam Family

After hosting a live commentary for Shazam! last night, director David F. Sandberg has shared a couple of very cool new photos, including one offering a behind the scenes look at the Shazam Family!

Yesterday evening, Shazam! director David F. Sandberg treated fans on social media to a live commentary. We'll be sure to bring you the biggest reveals from that soon, but in the meantime, the fillmaker has shared some photos from his DC Comics adaptation.

The first is a new promotional image of Zachary Levi suited up as Shazam. It's an atmospheric and eye-catching shot of the superhero, and one undeniably worthy of gracing your phone screen!

The second photo features both the adult and child versions of the Shazam Family. It's a cool shot which gives us the opportunity to compare the heroes with their younger counterparts. The superpowerd Shazam Family didn't get much in the way of screentime in the movie, but the hope is that will change in Sandberg's upcoming sequel (which was supposed to start shooting later this year).

Shazam! was released to positive reviews last year, and as well as a sequel, Warner Bros. is moving ahead with Black Adam starring everyone's favorite Hollywood A-Lister, Dwayne Johnson.

They should get some more JL Mortal actors for the next one, since Brody (flash) and Cortona (superman) were both in this. Hugh Keays-Byrne as Mr. Mind? Armie Hammer as Tawky Tawny

@tmp3 - Hugh Keays-Byrne would be a beautifully casted Mr. Mind

@SmokingMan - Oh man, I love your profile picture. I saw Dredd again like last week and started going through some 2000AD issues and the Judge is such a funny satire

@tmp3 - No way dude, same! Haha I've been doing a deep dive into it. I've even written a treatment for a Dredd comic lol such a great character, that I'm disappointed not a lot has been done with

@SmokingMan - There's supposedly a Mega City One show that's been in development since 2017, but there's been no real news on it. I love the movie but after reading the comics it feels more like a kick-ass action movie with Dredd as opposed to an actual Judge Dredd film, y'know? I like how Dredd's still a hard-ass with a black & white worldview though. For the show I hope they go more in the direction of satire, someone like Jesse Armstrong would be incredible to run it (though he's all locked up with Succession for the foreseeable future...)

@tmp3 - I've been following that Mega City One show since it's announcement. I hope it comes through. I agree, it felt less like the comic, which I guess Robocop did use a lot of concepts and ideas from Dredd's comics, so I get why it's been harder to adapt. Though that Stallone movie has no excuse for taking his helmet off. But I liked that even in then action-y blockbuster realm, he stayed the same in Dredd. He'd be great. I loved season 1 of Succession. I have to get back into it.

@SmokingMan - As good as season 1 of Succession is, Season 2 kicks its ass. Up there with Watchmen for me as far as 2019 TV goes. But I hope they get a good satirist for Mega City One, assuming it's still happening. Satire's one of the best components of Robocop, which feels like the quintessential Judge Dredd adaptation

@tmp3 - Sick! I can't wait. I'll check it out after The Leftovers ;)
Yeah same. Because that's what it needs. It needs to be a satire. It can't just be an action drama. It has to have substance with it. Robocop is one of those perfect movies. I haven't even bothered with the remake

tmp3 - 4/3/2020, 11:18 AM
@SmokingMan - Or the remake of the remake, called Bloodshot ;)

This was probably my favourite DC live-action movie to date. Loved the chemistry between Zack and Jack

@BlackBeltJones - I really liked Shazam the first time I watched it, and was excited to see it again on home release. While it was still good, the second watch didn't hold up quite as well as I was hoping.

Its fundamentals are strong and it's still the best recent DC movie I've seen, but it is still a bit one-note. The comedy is good comedy, but it's not all that layered. The drama is good drama, but it just operates on that one (hard-hitting) level. But neither are all that well incorporated into the superhero story itself, I didn't think.

I still love a lot of the movie, though. The ingredients are top notch, but it just doesn't quite come together as a single dish for me.

The only thing I didn't like about the suits in this movie is that the muscle definition was just a bit too much in all of them. Some of their movements looked a little awkward at times as you could tell they were overcompensating for the padding.

The actual design of the suits were spot on though so hopefully they streamline them a bit more for the sequel.

Yknow I just couldn’t get into this movie, I didn’t hate it but didn’t care for the fact that Shazam and Billy just never felt like they were remotely the same character
