SHAZAM! Is Now Officially "Certified Fresh" On Rotten Tomatoes

The good news keeps on coming for the DC Extended Universe, as it's been confirmed today by Rotten Tomatoes that Shazam! is officially "Certified Fresh" on the review aggregator. Hit the jump for details!

Warner Bros. lifted the review embargo on Shazam! much sooner than expected, and that seems to have paid off for the studio in a big way because the response to the latest DC Comics adaptation has been overwhelmingly positive.

For further proof of that, look no further than Rotten Tomatoes as the review aggregator has announced today that Shazam! is officially "Certified Fresh" with a score of 93%. The current Critics Consensus reads: "An effortlessly entertaining blend of humor and heart, Shazam! is a superhero movie that never forgets the genre's real power: joyous wish fulfillment."

While this score is subject to change over the coming weeks, it's hard to imagine the movie's percentage dropping at this point, and it wouldn't be remotely surprising if it ultimately goes up!

We'll have to wait and see on that front, but Shazam! director David F. Sandberg has shared his thoughts on the news and is clearly proud of how well the movie is doing. With any luck, Warner Bros. and New Line will be quick to sign him up for a sequel once those opening weekend box office numbers come in.

@Fanmar16 - idk man, no doubt Endgame will make Bank, but May is stacked with a good amount of Must See Blockbusters. So it will be interesting to see how much it cuts into the overall numbers, but I think another 2 billion is a lock for sure.

@Oberlin4Prez - what’re these big name blockbusters you speak of? The schedule is more open than last year with Deadpool 2 opening a couple weeks after infinity war.

@Fanmar16 - People can’t care about more than one movie at a time?

Wow you have a fun life

@Subtlespammer24 - Detective Pikachu, Aladdin, Godzilla 2, with John Wick 3 being probably a lesser Blockbuster. There's also a ton of counter programming coming out when all of these movies are also in theaters. Again, not saying Endgame won't win the majority of the cake, but to say it has no major competition is also silly.

With Wonder Woman and now Shazam finally the DC movie universe looks to be on a great track. Now just have to get through these next two movies and then everything is looking up after that.

@TheUnworthyThor - Wonder Woman Not a Sequel, but Really a Sequel is coming out in 2020 as well, hopefully it doesn't suffer from sequelitis.

@TheUnworthyThor - While I hope you're right, you essentially just stated that for every "great track" DC movie there are two that are not. Isn't that basically what FOX was?
