Warner Bros. Reveals The Official Release Date For David F. Sandberg's SHAZAM As Another Is Scrapped
We finally have some solid news on when Shazam will thunder into theaters and we thankfully don't have long to wait. Warner Bros., meanwhile, has ended up scrapping one of its other DC release dates...
There's been speculation for a while now that Warner Bros. will release Shazam on April 5th, 2019, and that's now been confirmed by the studio. David F. Sandberg is directing the movie from a script by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke. So far, the DC Comics adaptation is the only movie coming out on that date and Deadline reports that it will be receiving an IMAX release (which, again, is no shocker).
Here's where things get a tad bizarre, though. Warner Bros. has also announced that it's vacating the July 27th, 2018 release date which was originally put aside for Flashpoint. We've known for a good year or two that the Scarlet Speedster's solo outing wouldn't come out this year but the studio has only now made that 100% official in case anyone thought they'd release something without anyone realising.
With so many major shakeups at Warner Bros. and specifically the DC Films Universe, we'll hopefully start getting more confirmed release dates soon. For now, it's good to know Shazam is coming and with shooting expected to kick off in a matter of weeks, a first look surely can't be too far away now...
