Dennis Haysbert Replaces Michael Clarke Duncan In SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR

When the late great Michael Clarke Duncan ("Daredevil") passed away earlier this year many wondered who might replace him in the sequel to 2005's Sin City. Well the answer has arrived, director Robert Rodriguez has chosen Dennis Haysbert to fill the role of Manute.

According to the Hollywood Reporter we are in good hands when it comes to the actor that is replacing Michael Clarke Duncan in Sin City 2. That would be Allstate Insurance spokesman, Dennis Haysbert, or as many would remember, President David Palmer, on the Fox television series 24. As for me I still like to think of him as Pedro "[frick] you Jobu" Cerrano in 1989's baseball comedy, Major League.

Haysbert steps into the role of Manute, who in Frank Miller's comic, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, which the movie is titled after, is a pivotal character. He is a henchman that works for Ava Lord and her husband. He usually is portrayed wearing a valet uniforma, being of great size, yet is unusually polite as commits terrible, unspeakable acts upon his victims.

Rodriguez and Miller have provided the Hollywood Reporter with an official statement:
"Manute is a character that has been part of the heart of the Sin City tales and the late Michael Clarke Duncan beautifully established that role on screen. We could not tell the story of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For without Manute and are thrilled to welcome Dennis Haysbert to the cast."

SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR was developed by Frank Miller based upon his graphic novel, with a screenplay by Frank Miller and Academy Award winner William Monahan (The Departed). Rosario Dawson and Jessica Alba are already confirmed to return. The film will open nationwide on October 4, 2013.

I can see it. He's a very good actor and at 6'4, he's about as tall as Duncan. Just put a little muscle on him and he'll be good to go. He also has a nice deep voice like Duncan.

They shoulda struck while the iron was hot, with this.
Now we have to replace Michael Clarke Duncan and Britany Murphy. And Clive Owen, seen as though he has a different face in this one.
And Jolie is too old to be Ava now, right? And she was kinda perfect for that.
It begs the question: Who will be The Dame to Kill For?
I'm pretty sure every hot actress in Hollywood would kill for that title.

It must have been such a hard decision for them, trying to figure out how to replace such an irreplaceable actor after he passed away. Hopefully Haysbert does Duncan proud in the role he originated.

How has this guy not been cast in a CBM before? He's amazing. Was one of the best parts in the early seasons of 24. He has so much presence. There has to be another role out there for him. Something in a Marvel movie maybe. Suggestions anyone?

Sadly no one can fill the giant shoes of Mr. Duncan. RIP> He will be sorely missed. I like Haysbert too though! Another choice would've been Ving Rhames. Or Tony Todd if he were younger. Actually Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje would've worked too!!

Movie will still be shit.

First one was an experiment and showed everything NOT to do on screen. Acting was poor b/c Rodriguez gave no one any prep and the whole movie looked like someone was playing w/Shrinky Dinks on celluloid. Awful.
