Spider-Man Reboot Rumor Overload!

Spider-Man Reboot Rumor Overload!

We had a feeling it would happen, but rumors of who may take over from Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker are coming in at a heck of fast pace. Here are 2 articles from josh24 and 1 from Access on the latest actors to join the rumor mill..

First it was the Emo Vamp Robert Pattinson who was rumored to be the next spidey, but many said he was too old already. So next in line is his younger rival Teen-hunk-wolf Lautner for the role of Peter Parker. Words are coming from IESB, that producers of Spider0man have met Mr. Lautner but for what exactly that remains a secret.

I'll say it out front his not right for the role. I personally don't see Taylor Lautner as Peter Parker, sorry to all twilighters, I'll just say that I'm hoping this will not happen. There's are a lot more who is a better fit for the role.

-ACCESS out. Godspeed and MABUHAY!

Next up, Josh24's articles on Zac Efron...

Zac Efron has addressed speculation that he will star in the upcoming Spider-Man movie...
Speaking to Access Hollywood's Laura Saltman at the Critics' Choice Movie Awards, he said: "I really haven't gotten that phone call yet!"

"I'm a huge fan of the franchise and a huge fan of Spider-Man. I love all the movies at this point. It would be a dream come true for any guy my age."

And finally, Jim Sturgess..

Various sources on Twitter are connecting him to the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the upcoming reboot...
The Hollywood News is reporting that Jim Sturgess has been offered the role of Spider-Man in the upcoming reboot after British actor/director Noel Clarke, who is currently working with Sturgess on the movie Heartless, left this on Twitter:

NoelClarke RT @IAmSnakeyMan: Got inside track. jim sturgess has bin offerd the new spiderMan in spiderMan reboot, U knw I always get da inside scoop

The site contacted IAmSnakeyMan (British actor Arnold Oceng) via Twitter earlier today to ask him whether these rumours were true to which he replied, "Of course it is".

None of these actors would be a decent Peter Parker/ Spiderman.

Why not go with the obvious?

Great stuff ROR! With all of these rumours floating about and with so many articles appearing daily, its probably best if one of you guys at CBM combines them like this! Oh, and thanks for both the mention and putting them together!

Jim Sturgess definitely has the look, the twilight losers are a bad idea and I cringe at the sound of even the rumour of it. If Spidey has any ties to Metrosexual Vampires/Werewolves I am boycotting. Everyone thinks it's a cakewalk to reboot, but if they mess it up this could be worse than a Mighty Morphin Green Goblin.

I say TOBEY MAGUIRE!!

OR Jake Gyllenhaal!

As for the three of these guys, I guess that Sturgess would probably be the best choice to play Spider-Man...at least he is neither a High School Musical or Twilight, ahem, "actor" and unlike Lautner or Efron, he does actually look a little like Pete! Still, at 28 he may be a little old for a high school version of the character...

If I had to chose from these three I would pick Zac Efron or Jim Sturgess...

Taylor Lautner is a no no!

No probs Josh..sorry I didn't use some of the html you did!

hah, yeah Leee I go with Maguire too.

"No, Maguire sucked as Spiderman, he even cried in a couple of scenes..like, when his best friend and uncle died and stuff, who the hell cries when stuff like that happens..and too much emotion, he was, like, kissing MJ and stuff, yuuuuchhhh, we just want wise cracks and action..even if it seems completely out of context in a movie, he wise cracks at the villains in the comics, so we want it in the movie dammit!"

As for these 3, well, they suck:)..but Efron does at least look the part..kind of..

What I really want in the New Spidey is the Wit and the Humor that Spidey always has. I want his typical quips and when he's takin guys down crack a joke or two...and as well as JJ was cast there wasn't enough conflict built between those two characters. Hopefully they keep the guy that plays him, he was perfect for the role...
comicb00kguy
comicb00kguy - 1/18/2010, 11:29 AM
NO to all three of those! I don't want any whiney Twilight wussies, I can't stand Efron and his American Idol wannabe look, and that Sturgess guy looks more like a sex crime offender than everyone's favorite science geek turned webslinger. Not to mention that he looks too old. I thought we were doing a teenage Parker this time. Let's eliminate anyone who can walk into a bar and not worry at all about being carded.

Sturgess isn't the right pick I'd say due to age, but if you've seen 21 where he plays the ultra smart geeky type he definitely exudes some Pete...does he have the size to play Spidey? Not sure...I am really lookin forward to a strong casting for him...Spidey's not the biggest guy on the block, but he's not scrawny and he does have a build...
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 1/18/2010, 11:34 AM
continuezero: Really? Wikipedia has him down as 28! Either way he's still too old! :)

ROR: Lol, dont even begin to worry about it bud!

Anyway, I think we all know who should play Spider-Man in the upcoming reboot...Logan Lerman!

Spider-Man

His performance in the brilliant 3:10 To Yuma just goes to show he has the acting chops for the role!

Oh, and on a seperate note - I finally got around to wathcing The Hurt Locker today (awesome movie) and Jeremy Renner would not only make an amazing Hawkeye but he'd probably be a decent Captain America! :)

@joshw24 Agreed either way a litte too old, only because we have to assume another trilogy...I mean he's the prime age right now but if they want a younger Spidey and we're talkin at least another 3 that means it'll take like 10 years to spit em out...he'd be 40 by the 3rd...too bad...he does have the look for sure I think...good call on the Lerman pick, 3:10 was good and he was good in it...a little small no?

MisterFixit - 1/18/2010, 11:43 AM
Zero@ yeah! I remember a story where spidey was climbing the wall, sneezing because of a very strong cold. Sneezed so hard that he lost balance, while people on the street shouted to him "Fall, fall!" lol i grew up with that stuff

I like the Lerman pick better than these 3!

Sturgess too old-IMDB pegs him at 31 but who knows
Lautner-Acting is too wooden, doesn't look like character at all
Efron-Carries too much Disney tween baggage but he does have Parker look to him. Not my first choice but I actually think he could do it.

Most of these guys are just too pretty-boy looking to play a believable peter parker. The whole point of spider-man is that he's not perfect. No offense Tobey.

Fill this movie with no names, best way to do it. And then get James Caan for Norman Osborn.

Shadowelfz - 1/18/2010, 12:20 PM
I agree BLT. Spiderman is suppossed to be a dork, not some up-and-coming pretty boy. Im with Leee on this... McGuire or Gyllenhal. At least you can believe them being dorks while not being too dorky. Emile Hirsch is a decent choice too.

I like Jim Sturgess. I think he'd be a good Peter Parker if they were continuing the franchise. But starting back in high school, he may be a little old as people have said.

@LEEE, come on man, Raimi/Maguire is stale and if you think they would've gotten your beloved Gerard Butler for Kraven, you're dead wrong. You would've gotten a lame ass Vulture story with a lame ass Black Cat side story and Bruce Campbell with a lame ass Mysterio cameo. Enjoy Iron Man II, Kick Ass and Thor, and then cross your fingers for a better Spiderman.

hahaha, you hit the nail on the head. the spidey crying thing is ridiculous. he only cries in the movies at parts that ANYONE with a soul would cry at.
