We weren't expecting any Spider-Man 3 news during Disney's Investor Day. While Tom Holland's Peter Parker calls the Marvel Cinematic Universe home, he's only on loan to Marvel Studios, and the threequel is ultimately a Sony Pictures release. Despite that, Kevin Feige dropped a very intriguing hint about that movie's place in this shared world.
Talking about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness - and confirming that newcomer Xochitl Gomez is indeed playing America Chavez - the Marvel Studios boss said that both WandaVision and Spider-Man 3 tie into the sequel.
With Benedict Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme appearing in the latter, you might think that's a given. However, with Strange set to head into the Multiverse, this feels like the closest we're going to get to confirmation that Spider-Man 3 is indeed some sort of "Spider-Verse" adventure.
Dropping some further hints about the Doctor Strange sequel, Feige said, "We’re really pushing the boundaries of storytelling with this thrilling, scary, mind-bending adventure."
Nothing the Marvel Studios boss says is a mistake or accident, and we have no doubt that he knew exactly what he was doing by mentioning that Spider-Man 3 is tied to a movie that will take Doctor Strange "into the Multiverse of Madness." With everyone from Jamie Foxx to Alfred Molina and Emma Stone reportedly set to appear in the Spider-Man: Far From Home sequel, Peter visiting the "Spider-Verse" now seems inevitable, and that's very exciting.
What do you guys think of this update from Feige?
