Originally released as a bonus feature of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Marvel HQ has now published the animated short Spider-Ham: Caught in the Ham.

The four-minute video serves as a prequel to Into the Spider-Verse, as Peter Porker, voiced by comedian/actor John Mulaney, comes face to face with the villainous Dr. Craw Daddy.

Directed by Miguel Jiron and produced by David Schulenburg, Spider-Ham: Caught in the Ham has that classic animated look and signature Looney Tunes humor to it thanks to the wise-cracking nature of Peter Porker.

It’s another normal day for Peter Porker, a.k.a. the Spectacular Spider-Ham, fighting bad guys and loving hot dogs, until a mysterious portal starts messing with the very fabric of his cartoon reality!

The Academy Award and Golden Globe-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has been met with rave reviews and grossed over $375 million worldwide. Its success and reception has encouraged Sony Pictures to expand upon the Spider-Verse with a direct sequel continuing Miles Morales' story, and a spinoff film focused on the Spider-Women.

Sony Pictures has also been discussing a potential television series, which seems to be the perfect medium for a character like Spider-Ham.

I read somewhere that in ITSV Miles' frame rate animation changes in the film when he becomes Spider-Man as a way of visualising that he's less clumsy and more sure of himself. Can anyone confirm that?

@Necropolitan - this is correct, Miles at the start as well as most civilian characters are animated only on every other frame while the spider-men are all animated at full speed. Miles and PBP begin to fall in synch during that double swinging sequence in the forest when miles is getting the hang of web-swinging. Awesome little trick

I was kinda on board with Into The Spider-Verse until Peter Porker popped up in the trailer and that was it for me. Having now watched this nonsense, I think I will skip the film.
