Marvel Teases New Hero Spider-Boy Slated For SPIDER-MAN #7

Spider-Man writer Dan Slott is raring to introduce the masses to Spider-Boy, the hero accompanying everyone's favorite web-slinger, in April's The End of the Spider-Verse arc finale.

Dan Slott isn't mincing words in the slightest, he's excited to show off the new Spider-hero slated to arrive in next week's issue of Spider-Man. Earlier this month, Marvel hyped up the new hero with a special Variant cover with the web-slinger's logo up top and "Spoiler!" smack dab in the center at an angle. As the new issue looms ever closer, it was only a matter of time before the beans were spilled as to who this new hero will be.

It turns out this new hero will be the long-lost sidekick of the hero, Spider-Boy. Donning a blue and red suit, his significant distinction is his similarly colored sneakers. Slott discussed his nostalgia for the franchise and how he grew up reading the comics. As it stands, it seems the veteran Spider-Man writer is most excited about this new character.

“I can't wait for people to meet Bailey (Spider-Boy), and the unique role he's going to play in both Spider-Man's world and the Marvel Universe. I grew up reading Spider-Man comics. He's my favorite character in all of fiction. All I ever wanted to do was tell stories with THIS cast, and it's been the coolest thing ever to co-create some of the characters who populate it. And this kid, this Spider-Boy, is THE one I'm most psyched about!"

Slott also took the time to thank his collaborators, Humberto Ramos and Mark Bagley, while also drumming Spider-Boy up as "all-different" and teasing his "strange, new powers."

"On the art side, two absolute SPIDER-LEGENDS are bringing Spider-Boy to life. My longtime collaborator, Humberto Ramos and the amazing Mark Bagley. The all-new, all-different Spider-Boy of the 616: He's got strange new spider-powers, secret ties to dark corners of Spider-Man lore, and a story that's all his own... that is right about to begin!"

Spider-Man #7 will mark the end of The End of the Spider-Verse arc. The arc's sendoff issue will go on sale on April 5.

Spider-boy = Miles 2.0

That may be cool if they'd ever let Spider-Man grow the $@%% up!!!

Give me a J. Michael Stracynski and David Finch team-up for 200 please. I'd also be more than thrilled to see Adam Kubert or Alex Ross take on artwork as well. Get rid of the cyber-punk interns. It's time to let the legends build again.

@VictorAlonzo - It's what they should have called Miles from the start.

Peter Parker will always be the one and only Spider-Man.

He’s probably going to be an Osborne or a Cassidy.

I love legacy characters as much as the next guy but do we really need another Spider-Man? There’s already a bunch

@Ha1frican - what’s considered a “Legacy Character”? Is it the time they’ve been around? Is it their “coolness” level? Is it because a younger redesigned version of them exist?
Like, Grifter from the WILDC.A.T.S, is he a Legacy character?

@WruceBayne - Legacy characters are character that could potentially take the mantle of and established character, have the same title, or are sidekicks. Miles Morales, Kate Bishop, Nightwing, Terry McGinnis, Supergirl. Characters that’s would be an extension of a super “family”. There’s already a ton in the Spider-Man lore even without going multiversal. Scarlet Spider, Spider-Woman, Silk, and in some cases Miles Morales all already exist and then there’s all the symbiotes on top of that

I think it would be funny if Spiderboy was an adult, he's just short. Peter was the kid called Spiderman, and Spoderboy is actually a man who's just small lol

@TheVandalore - I like where you’re going with this! But then… in this climate, Spider”boy” gon’ get slapped with a hashtag groomer lol

I may be talking crazy here, but what if we wait a bit more before judging a brand new character?

Isn't the name Spider-Boy co-owned with DC Comics?

I really wish they'd stop with all the spider characters. There is already enough of them that dont get the love they deserve to be throwing more into the mix. Especially since they often appear once or twice then are forgotten anyways.
