Unlike many other studios, Sony Pictures decided fairly early on last year to delay its entire 2021 slate. That meant movies like Morbius and Venom: Let There Be Carnage were pushed into 2021, with the former heading our way in March. Oscar-winner, and former Joker, Jared Leto plays the Living Vampire, and opened up on his Marvel debut in an interview with Variety.
The actor didn't say much about what fans can expect, but described it as, "a Jekyll and Hyde story that’s just big and fun, and sometimes is a little scary, which is, I think, different for that genre."
Many fans believed Venom would mix horror with blockbuster action, but it ended up being more akin to a comedy than anything else. However, it really does sound like Morbius will lean into those horror elements a little more heavily, a fitting decision given Michael Morbius' vampire transformation.
"I’m excited about it," Leto added. "That should be a big, fun popcorn movie."
It's also not shying away from being a blockbuster based on those remarks, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, and it does look like director Daniel Espinosa has some unique visuals planned for the character's big screen debut. Whether it proves to be any better than Venom remains to be seen.
