According to an article from the MSN Entertainment site, Christopher Teirney (the stunt man for Spider-Man) fell 30 feet while doing a scene where he was supposed to rescue the damsel in distress Mary Jane however it seemed he was the one who needed rescue. The article also goes on to explain that Teirney was rushed to the hospital and is in stable condition.

This production seems to be a cursed one and the opening has been delayed. However, the show will still go on and is scheduled for debut on Feb. 7th 2011.

The show is not cursed. You know why people are getting hurt?Because this concept is damn near impossible to pull off.Especially multiple times.

Who in their right mind thought performing a live show featuring extensive wirework and choreographed fight sequences would go off without a hitch?

deadpool@ I'm willing to bet he only went along with it because it was his character and he didn't want to knock it. I wouldn't imagine Stan Lee would want this play done. Especially now with all the problems!

I don't think it's funny that he got hurt, and anybody that does is an a-hole.But I think they need to shut this thing down before somebody ends up getting killed. This was a bad idea, they should have used the money on something more worthwile.

If I were part of the cast I think I would be getting the hell out of there.

@spidery1994- I don't think they're going to with how much money they've put into it. Plus like they said all these accidents are making people want to see it. I guess what they say is true, "any publicity is good publicity"

I wonder if the person who thought this would be a great show is smiling at the major success of this production or if he feels like he is as much of a failure as this show is. What a stupid idea from the start - comics don't make broadway shows.

I'd hate to be an investor in this production. When you're dealing with a character such as Spiderman, it's simply impossible to pull of a nightly show with those kinds of stunt elements.... acrobatics and wires spell disaster. I would be more impressed with him clinging to a wall than swinging around the theatre.

Isn't this a $45,000,000 production? If they invested that much, I don't think a few injuries are going to stop it. Unless their insurance carrier raises their rates or cancels the policiy.

The stunt man got hurt, not the actor. And after all, isn't that what "Stunt Men" are for?

I was at the show on Monday night and saw this accident happen. While this mishap was horrific and shocking the show is worthwhile and should "go on" as they say.

Up until the accident "Spider-Man: TOTD" is very entertaining, action-packed, visually artistic, has amazing aerial acrobatics, and a rocking soundtrack. From the start of the show, which was sold out, the audience was rooting for all the actors as evidenced by their exuberant cheers and clapping after each act and stunt. The impression was that attendees seemed to want this production to succeed because when it works it's very cool.

"TOTD" has been maligned by critics, the media, and fans for a host of reasons but I think it's been blown out of proportion, especially by people who haven't seen it. Honestly, it's a fun show that's daring and radical. Hopefully, as more people see it and the magnitude of the stunts being done, audiences will understand that a production of this magnitude is going to have problems. Let's hope all the kinks get worked out and no more injuries occur because this is a show that should be seen and enjoyed by many, especially by fans of this genre.

PS: Prayers and best wishes to the injured performer and his family. Reportedly, his injuries were minor and not life-threatening thank goodness.

@cgrass5150 People will flock to a train wreck too... Just to see the carnage. I hope you are right though, I want it to succeed too, the facist media is only going to print the worst...but maybe that'll help the box office.
