Tom Holland had to leap straight from Uncharted to Spider-Man 3 last year, and that posed a problem for Marvel Studios. The actor's hair had been cut for his role as intrepid explorer Nathan Drake, but a request from producers meant the British actor had to assert his star power and put his foot down!
"My hair in Uncharted is much cooler," he stated. "I have cool shaved sides and it’s slick at the back, and that’s not very Peter Parker. He’s a bit of a loser. So they put this wig on me that was just around the sides."
That could have been comical, and not a great look for the MCU's resident web-slinger. Realizing that he might have ended up looking like an idiot, Holland tells Esquire that he had to take drastic measures.
"For the first time in my life, I put my foot down as the leading actor," he reveals, "and was like, 'I’m not [frick]ing wearing that wig. You can just...I’m going to have shorter hair and you’re going to have to deal with it.'"
You can't blame Holland for playing on his A-List status, especially if you recall poor Kate Mara's dreadful-looking wig in 2015's Fantastic Four reboot.
In the same interview, the actor opened up on the physicality of shooting Spider-Man 3. "This entire week of shooting, I haven’t done a single shot right way up. I’ve been upside down all week."
Holland has asserted that neither Tobey Maguire nor Andrew Garfield will appear in the film, but something tells us he might not be telling the truth. Unfortunately, that remains to be seen for the time being!
