Spider-Man: No Way Home - The Art of the Movie has finally found its way into stores, and some new comments from Tobey Maguire are likely to further increase excitement about the possibility of Spider-Man 4 becoming a reality.
The actor is mostly a producer these days and rarely appears on screen, with the latest Spider-Man movie his most noteworthy role in quite some time.
Suiting up again, however, has clearly had an impact on Maguire. "Working with Andrew [Garfield] and Tom [Holland] was so dear to me, it really was special - a very rich experience for me, all around," he reveals (via The Direct). "It kind of reinvigorated my interest in performing. It felt like a real brotherhood, which was what we were aiming for, too, for us and for the characters."
"But then to have those dynamics play out - feeling a real connection and love for these guys, and having fun and having a laugh - all of that was energizing and reinvigorating for me."
Reuniting with Willem Dafoe (Green Goblin) and Alfred Molina (Doctor Octopus) was also an "amazing" experience according to Maguire, though being asked back to play Spider-Man again...well, it sounds like he's been waiting for that call for a while.
"When they called initially...I was like, 'Finally!'" he admits. "I just feel grateful - I was really open, immediately, about coming to do this. Not without nerves! But to get to show up with talented, creative people and play together...it's just a yes."
"There was such an open-heartedness to coming together and embracing each other and supporting each other that was really beautiful."
Rumours about Spider-Man 4 happening continue to persist, as do those claiming The Amazing Spider-Man 3 will eventually take shape. Neither project seems overly likely and we'd be concerned about Sony Pictures folding either of those movies into the current reality inhabited by characters like Venom and Morbius.
We'd guess Maguire and Garfield will reprise their respective roles as Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and Avengers: Secret Wars, but only time will tell on that front.
