While Tobey Maguire's return as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home was celebrated by fans, it seems highly unlikely that Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4 will ever be made.
The filmmaker made it clear during the promotional tour for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that it's not a project he's desperate to return to. Honestly, Raimi's comments shouldn't come as any great surprise when the reason he walked away in the first place is that he wasn't 100% behind the story they planned on telling.
That would have seen John Malkovich suit up as The Vulture, with Spidey getting some backup from Anne Hathaway's Black Cat. After a brutal fight that would have culminated in Adrian Toomes' death, his daughter, likely played by Angelina Jolie, would have become "The Vulturess."
It sounds like a pretty solid movie, right?
Well, after some recent Spider-Man 4 pre-production photos surfaced showing prop versions of The Vulture's wings, a fan account has shared clay models of Malkovich's sinister villain.
Clearly heavily inspired by the comic books, this take on The Vulture isn't a million miles from what we'd eventually see in Spider-Man: Homecoming when Michael Keaton played the character. Malkovich looks the part, anyway, and would have made a fine addition to this franchise.
If Spider-Man 4 or The Amazing Spider-Man 3 ever become a reality, it will be under the purview of Sony Pictures, and not Marvel Studios. We find it hard to believe either Maguire or Andrew Garfield would be on board with that given their own previous experiences - Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - and what they see from the likes of Venom and Morbius.
Take a closer look at what might have been with The Vulture below.
