Sony Pictures may be in charge of bringing Spider-Man to the big screen, but Disney still owns the wall-crawler's merchandising rights. That goes some way in explaining why, since 2016's Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland's Peter Parker has worn so many different costumes!
Un the closing moments of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the teenager bid farewell to his technologically advanced suit and donned one more in line with his comic book counterpart. It's damn near perfect, and a take on the hero we hope to see take centre stage in the next trilogy of movies.
However, we also don't think Spidey will be giving up wearing alternate costumes any time soon. In fact, we'd say there's a very good chance the web-slinger will continue to shake up his appearance when the time calls for it, and there are a number of suits from the comic books that we're dying to one day see in live-action.
To find out what those are, all you guys need to do is click the "Next" button down below!
8. Ben Reilly Spider-Man
Ben Reilly will be part of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, decked out in the classic costume that inspired the MCU Pete's homemade suit in Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, when he later became Spider-Man on a full-time basis, he was decked out in the red and blue number you see above.
Marvel Studios has toyed with the idea of adapting this costume on a number of occasions, and as much as we'd love to see the web-slinging superhero's clone in the MCU, we don't necessarily think that's the plan.
So, why not give this costume to Holland's Spider-Man? It could retain the classic elements of the suit we first saw at the end of No Way Home, albeit in a way that makes this Variant of the hero stand out. That logo would pay homage to his Iron Spider days, while the exterior web-shooters always look amazing.
7. The Bombastic Bag-Man
The Fantastic Four are on their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and while Jon Watts is no longer at the helm of that movie, a team-up between Spider-Man and those heroes remains a must. After all, Peter has a storied history with Marvel's First Family, and it would be crazy for him to not cross paths with the team at some point in the next few years.
If and when that does happen, we definitely need to see the Bombastic Bag-Man in action!
If his costume is damaged or destroyed in battle, Peter could easily borrow one of Johnny Storm's suits and comically don a paper bag in order to hide his face on the way home. This would be a treat for fans, and a great way to boost the value of the (right now) easy-to-find Amazing Spider-Man #258 if you're a collector!
6. Big Time
One of the best things to come out of Dan Slott's Amazing Spider-Man run was the costumes.
That's definitely the case with the wall-crawler's "Big Time" suit, a costume with the primary purpose of protecting the hero from the new Hobgoblin's sonic laugh. However, it also had a camo mode which makes this a stealth suit we're sure Spidey could get a lot of use out of. Where we would he get the technology? That's a question a future movie would need to answer.
It's been both green and orange over the years, and either one of those would work in the MCU. Now Spidey is seemingly perceived as a menace thanks to J. Jonah Jameson, he might be forced to be a little more stealthy as Spidey!
5. Bulletproof
This updated version of the Spider-Armour is also from Dan Slott's Amazing Spider-Man run, and was created to compensate for Peter Parker's loss of his Spider-Sense (which has only been used sporadically in the MCU between the "Peter-Tingle" in Spider-Man: Far From Home and the scene with Norman Osborn in Happy Hogan's apartment in the sequel).
Completely bulletproof, this suit is visually striking, and if you've played the Spider-Man PlayStation game, you'll know that it looks nothing short of amazing in action. What could it bring to the MCU?
Well, if Spider-Man is somehow weakened or needs to protect himself from the police, this could be a great costume to make use of...however, we'd ideally like to see him wear it to battle Jon Bernthal's Punisher!
4. Superior Spider-Man
We definitely don't want to see Otto Octavius become the MCU's new Spider-Man, and the Superior Spider-Man storyline as a whole is one we'd rather see left on the page for the time being.
However, that costume...well, it's pretty badass. Marvel Studios' talented team of concept artists definitely took inspiration from this suit for Spider-Man: Far From Home, and that was evident in the "Art of" book. The spider symbol looks really cool, while the black and red are something we now know works well.
This could be a simple upgrade to Peter Parker's suit as he gets older, and perhaps a way of hinting that he's heading down a dark path after facing a tragic few years which have seen him lose Tony Stark, Aunt May, and even the love of his life after the world forgot who he is.
3. Scarlet Spider II
Peter Parker has never actually worn this costume, as it instead belonged to his clone, Kaine. As the new Scarlet Spider, he was definitely a hero, but one with a very different approach to his "brother."
So, what could lead to Peter donning this Scarlet Spider suit? Well, we're not sure there even needs to be a reason...it just looks cool! This would be a big change for the web-slinger, but another costume that could signal him maturing as a superhero. If rumours he's teaming up with Daredevil are true, this would look badass alongside 'ol Hornhead!
Of course, the easiest way to bring this to the big screen would be to adapt the Clone Saga, and while not everyone will be on board with that, we're sure Marvel Studios could do the storyline justice.
2. Spider Amour
One of Peter Parker's earliest alternate costumes, the "Spider-Armor Mk I" didn't stick around for long, but remains a visually striking suit which could look incredible in a live-action setting.
The wall-crawler donned this suit to battle the New Enforcers, and while it slowed him down, it made the hero less vulnerable to attacks (particularly bullets). While Spidey did don a separate, insulated costume to battle Electro, those being combined - using this suit's appearance - could be a neat way of giving Peter a powerful upgrade to face a future deadly foe.
The Scorpion's tale instantly springs to mind, as does what a formidable opponent the MCU's version of The Kingpin looks set to be. If Spider-Man is about to tackle the Big Apple's organised crime families, this might be a must.
1. Black Suit Spider-Man
When you stop and think about it, it's crazy that Spider-Man didn't return from space with this new suit. Chances are Sony's plans for Venom derailed that idea, but No Way Home has opened the door to it finally happening.
It's no secret that studio is keen to have Tom Holland's Peter Parker cross paths with Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock, and both actors have expressed interest in making it a reality. Unfortunately, we think Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home are likely as close as we'll ever get to a crossover. Still, a piece of the costume is now in the MCU!
This has to happen in time for Avengers: Secret Wars, right? It would also be the perfect excuse to have Spidey seek out the help of the Fantastic Four, leading to the introduction of the aforementioned Bombastic Bag-Man...
