Raimi along with a few other successful Hollywood directors have been just a little ahead of the media game reporters like to play. Sam anticipates questions regarding the new Spidey film scheduled to hit theatres in the not so distant future. Which is fine except we really don't get an answer to the questions that these A list directors are asked. What we get is a predetermined response to what they thought was going to be the question.

When asked the status of the Spidey Script Raimi states "I've just started working on the next installment of the Spider-Man series," (huh?? I swear Sam said that very same thing a month or so ago) according to JoBlo.com. "Screenwriter David Lindsay-Abaire is in New York right now writing the screenplay and I am going to receive a draft of it in about three weeks I think."



All perfectly timed for the Script to be talked about while doing the press tour for Drag Me To Hell. Obviously all this can change, three weeks, can easily turn into a month or surprise us all and get done in two weeks (wont happen). We should also receive some villain news as well, it would only make sense since the script would be finished and all.

Kidding, though i hope they film more than what they did in MARLEY AND ME!!! (Damn, it was filmed in Roundstone, i got relatives there, an it was all of a couple of seconds). Maybe Peters on vacation too?? Ireland's a beautiful country but not many skyscrapers to swing off there, but its nice to get out of New York for abit!! ; )

I really want this forth film to work I've been a huge spidey fan for over 20 years now and the third movie was just heartbreaking! We need another great Spider-man flick.

I agree no Carnage. I'm not sure a family friendly franchise (Damn tounge twister) like Spider-man could honestly do a character like Carnage justice. He'd be handled with kid gloves.

My votes for Spidey villians: Lizard, Mysterio, brief cameo by Rhino in the begining of film!

HONESTLLY RAIMI WAS PRESSURED TO PUT IN VENOM IN THE LAST ONE, HE WASNT IN FULL ARTISTIC CONTROL, THIS TIME HE IS,IN IRELAND, THE LIZARD AND MORBIUS..WATCH..ITS GONNA HAPPEN.

Longbow @ I like the brief cameo of RHINO at the begining, that would sooo work an put everyone straight in there!

Yeah, hopefully VENOM can be more adult PG 13 or above, an maybe have CARNAGE spin off from that in his own R-Rated horror movie! It'll be so far from SPIDER-MAN that SONY could get away from it!!! I reckon CARNAGE would be a instant classic up there with Freddy, Jason, Hannibal etc!!! I reckon it could work easy. ; )

I think the Lizard will definitely be in this movie. But the Scorpion could really seal the deal.

Morlun would be interesting to see since he kicked Spiderman's ass for most of that story arc. But I doubt they would do it or I am afraid they would screw the character up. It would be hard to screw Morlun up because he is really not that complex but they have screwed things up in the past. But by now they should put the Lizard in it. Dylan Baker has been patient enough.

I love how we keep having this same comments section over and over and over and over and over. Let me guess-- some people want Carnage, some people want Venom & Carnage, some people want a reboot, some people want the Lizard, and some people (like me) want to gradually introduce the Sinister Six over the course of the next 2 films to set them up for the 6th movie?

All I know is that the villian that Raimi puts in the new film better be someone he actually likes because he didn't like Venom and it showed.

I think they should only use one villain, and write him really well. They've been planting the seeds for the lizard for three movies. They should use him and have another villain show up at the end for a cliffhanger to be in the next movie.

the headline on the main page for this article was very misleading

i expected some kind of news, villians, general idea of how the script was coming along any new possible actors and i get here and its absolutely nothing

i hope the villains will be Electro and Scorpion with a possible return of Norman Osborn near the end setting up the Sinister Six (I can see the marketing now,Spider-Man 6/Sinister Six-it fits!!!)

Hows about Lizard and Kraven?

Spidey has to protect himself and Lizard from Kraven(he wants them as trophies) but must also protect NY from Lizard while trying to find a cure.

I hope, and this is the best idea of anything ive heard yet, that SPIDERman goes toe to toe with a giant SPIDER in the third act. How riveting is that? Its like fighting himself. Its like Superman vs Krypton. Epic battle.

Isnt "riveting" SO overused? As overused as micheal clark duncan! I would kill myself if i made anything and someone said it was "riveting".

I THINK THAT SAM RAIMI NEEDS TO DO THE MAXIMUM CARNAGE, BUT WITH TOTAL ADULT THEMES, LOTS OF DIABOLICAL-NESS, BLOOD AND SWEARING. I SUGGEST SAM BECAUSE HE CAN DO HORRO VERY WELL WHEN HE PUTS HIS MIND TO IT. OR EVEN ROB ZOMBIE! COULD YOU IMAGINE THE OLE ZOMBIE PUTTIN HIS SPIN ON THE WHOLE VENOM/SPIDEY/CARNAGE DEAL........FREEKIN AWESOME!

to hell with carnage. Hes an impossible part of the spiderman story to do while keeping the story out or an R rating (spiderman wont go R). if you all feel the need for more symbiote action they could always let the sample that peter gave Dr. Connors come back and be our favorite spidey bad guy... if you remember spidey gave him a little chunk for analysis. bring on venom 2 and lizard, possibly even craven if you wanted to get real crazy.
