BOX OFFICE: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Tops $450 Million

BOX OFFICE: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Tops $450 Million

After only being out one weekend domestically and two and a half weeks in the smaller, international countries, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 looks set to crack $500 million this weekend.

According to Box Office Mojo, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 seems to be hitting big numbers worldwide, with a worldwide tally of just above $450 million after Thursday night, despite so-so reviews and only "good" word-of-mouth. Can it keep up this kind of momentum?

With The Amazing Spider-Man 2 tracking to make around $35 million domestically even with the most pessimistic of projectors and China's market opening up for Spider-Man just last Sunday, it looks like the sequel to Marc Webb's 2012 The Amazing Spider-Man will hit $500 million this weekend. Given another domestic fall, it seems international numbers are again going to be the thing Sony's looking for when the final tally comes in.

In comparison, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, at this time, was pulling less internationally and narrowly beating The Amazing Spider-Man 2 domestically by approximately $7 million. Also of note, Rory Bruer, president of Sony Pictures Worldwide Distribution, stated that this is not only meeting the wanted results but, in fact, is exceeding them.

TASM2 will do some decent moeny. But TASM3 will do worse. And TASM4 will bomb. Marvel will get the Spidey rights back before 2020.

I felt it was better then Cap2. I went into Cap2 expecting it to be great and it was, so it met my expectations. I went into TASM2 thinking it was going to be mediocre but was surprised at how much I enjoyed it, so it topped my expectations.

So it makes me feel like Spiderman was better then Cap2.

Loved the movie btw. Generally as a film it was Ok-good (To the general audience). But as a ""Spiderman"" movie it was Amazing, and Definitley one of the best ""Spider-man"" movies to date imo
