WILLOW Star Christian Slater Comments On Possibly Joining MCU Following Recent SPIDER-MAN 4 Rumors (Exclusive)

Talking to us about his memorable cameo role in Willow, Christian Slater responds to rumours that he's being eyed for a role in Spider-Man 4, expressing his love of both superhero projects and Star Wars.

All eight episodes of Willow are now streaming on Disney+, and the all-new sequel series, based on George Lucas' 1988 fantasy-adventure movie of the same name, has been a hit with fans.

In the sixth episode, Christian Slater made his long-awaited cameo as Allagash, a character we soon learn was once one of Madmartigan's closest allies. You can read our full interview with the actor here, but during our conversation on Zoom, we brought up some recent rumours that the Mr. Robot star is being eyed for a role in Spider-Man 4.

We didn't share that here because it came from an unreliable source, though even a broken clock is right twice a day! Regardless, Slater looked visibly confused when we mentioned the report, but did respond positively after we asked whether he's open to joining a superhero project.

"I do like superhero movies. Look, I’m a huge fan of Robert Downey Jr., really. I feel like, whenever I think of Marvel, I only think about Robert Downey Jr. He’s the guy who I feel started this whole journey. Him and Jon Favreau. I got to see Jon at D23 and we had a nice discussion and conversation about things he’s worked on and I was able to let him know what a fan I am of the Star Wars Universe."

"Gosh, I love Andor. Andor was amazing. Did you enjoy it? It was great and I really got wrapped up in it. That had elements of my Star Wars from 1977 when I was a kid. It just had so much of that," the actor continued. "It’s hard to capture that lightning and recreate that sort of energy, and that’s why it’s important to have people involved who were alive at that particular time."

Based on these remarks, we'd say it's more likely that Slater heads into a Galaxy Far, Far Away than the MCU, though he has previously lent his voice to Deadshot in the DC Animated Universe. The actor is always a fantastic addition to any movie or TV show, of course, and if he is being eyed for Spider-Man 4, he'd make one heckuva Hobgoblin, don't you think?

Only time will tell, but in the meantime, we'd strongly recommend checking out his turn as Allagash in Willow because it's clear Slater is having an absolute blast in that fantasy world.

All episodes of Willow are now streaming on Disney+.

@Benjamitesandwich - Very bold move if they go that route for SM4. Not opposed to seeing him but bold indeed.

Call him the Mr. Robot star, not the "show that should have never even been thought of" star

@Vigor - Willow is likely my favorite, most watched movie from my childhood. I still have a big collection of Willow stuff from back then. But this show was a wreck. The sequel trilogy of books from Chris Claremont were better than this show, and I didn't care for those books haha.

Finally managed to slog my way through Willow. Took booze and feminine convincing, but I finished it. Boorman is a great character, otherwise horrible show.

I laughed when Slayer showed up but he ended up being not terrible like everything else.

I have as much confidence in the MCU properly utilizing him as they did Ethan Hawke.

@TheVandalore - Given it's a movie (a Spidey one at that) instead of a series, I'd at least hope he's more of a Keaton than a Hawke.

''We didn't share that here because it came from an unreliable source, though even a broken clock is right twice a day!''

Wait, are you calling yourself or the source a broken clock?

Anyway, I could see him show up in Star Wars (his Star Wars, or mine?). Think he'd make for a good Imperial character.

I haven't wathced him in anything in quite some time, but I wouldn't mind at all having him be in the MCU.

Loved Mr. Robot. Bring that main cast all over to the MCU in some form and I'll be game.

Uncle Ben was brought back by someone and he takes over for Aunt May. This way Peter is not alone anymore.

I am excited to see a supernatural Hobgoblin but Slater has an older and strikes more as a Miles Warren maybe under the employ of a cabal of geneticists like Evolutionary. If Evolutionary is based in space, look, I was expecting Sinister to fold into Evolutionary or Vice versa technically. I want everything to tie in together like, Rocket, Scarlet Witch (Wundigor), Jessica Drew, the Summers bloodline, extended to Beast, Puma, And Tigra, which could've connected to rotund like Spider-Man and tie in to Jackal but I think we are well past my wild hallucinations
