SUICIDE SQUAD: Geoff Johns & David Ayer Hint At The Movie's Plot
On the heels of some massive casting announcements/confirmations for David Ayer's Suicide Squad, we have Tweets from both the director & Johns which might just give us an idea which comic arc the movie will be taking inspiration from. More past the jump..
I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that Warner Bros. and DC have put together one of the best CBM casts of all time (and Jai Courtney) for their Suicide Squad movie, but of course we still don't know what the plot will be. Director David Ayer has previously described the film as being similar to The Dirty Dozen, and that certainly fits in with the DC Comics team's MO, but the following Tweets from both Ayer and DC Entertainment CCO Geoff Johns might allow us to get a bit more specific with our speculation.
First let's address Ayer's Tweet. The Suicide Squad are a team of supervillians; many of whom are generally depicted as vicious, sadistic killers -- but they have been known to take on certain missions that allowed for some heroics from time to time. Ayer certainly seems to be suggesting that his Squad might be fighting the good fight when they debut on the big screen. Could we see the Jared Leto's Joker play the role of antagonist perhaps? Next, Johns implores us to "get reading" John Ostrander's run on the comic which lasted almost 70 issues between the late '80s and early '90s. This run kicked off with the "Trial by Fire" arc, which saw Amanda Waller gather together her Task Force X for the first time and put them to the test. This would definitely serve as a great starting point for the movie's first act anyway. What do you guys think?
