SUICIDE SQUAD TV And Animated Adaptations Did Not Inform The Film At All

Arrow and others had great plans for the super villain team SUICIDE SQUAD, but due to the film dropping the show had to drop the team to stop 'brand confusion'. The film's producer, Richard Suckle, clears things up.

The CW's Arrow had great plans for the Suicide Squad, going as far as showing Harley Quinn (well, most of her) and having an actress cast and having most of the main members. But those plans were stopped. Presumably by WB, to not confuse audiences when they go see the new film. But the film's producer, Richard Suckle clears things up. During a set visit, Suckle said this:

They're completely separate. They're treated completely separately. Whatever similarities or differences that may actually occur are really coincidental. What we're doing is what we're doing. What they do on Arrow, like when you see Amanda Waller or whomever it may be, that's their version, that's their incarnation of Amanda Waller or whichever character you would necessarily see that may also appear in other versions in other medium.

While those comments certainly clear things up, what do you think? Should WB have let Arrow roll with their version? Share your comments below. Meanwhile, there's a new TV spot to check out and buy your tickets.

Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5th, 2016.

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Nah, I think Assault on Arkham DEFINITELY influenced this film. And that's not a bad thing.
