The Suicide Squad was a hit with critics, but that sadly didn't translate into box office takings. Regular moviegoers simply weren't blown away by James Gunn's R-Rated take on Task Force X, and it seems this franchise could be dead in the water (short of a surprise Weasel-style resurrection down the line).
This "Honest Trailer" for the movie doesn't take it easy on the reboot/sequel, criticising the uneven portrayal of Harley Quinn in the DC Extended Universe and the fact that Bloodsport is basically Deadshot.
The similarities between this and 2016's Suicide Squad are also touched on, as is the controversy that led to Gunn working for Warner Bros. in the first place. For the most part, this just makes for funny viewing, especially when they point out the filmmaker's apparent hatred of dads.
Ultimately, it's all in good fun, but there are definitely some valid criticisms here. All in all, though, this was a great comic book movie, and we can only hope it finds an audience down the line.
In our review of The Suicide Squad, we said: "It's not a comic book movie classic but you'll have a bloody good time with The Suicide Squad, an action-packed, often hilarious, take on Task Force X that breathes new life into the DC Extended Universe even if it occasionally strikes a bum note."
