In an article detailing how movie studio's loyalty to certain actors and directors can sometimes backfire, THR reveal that Darren Aronofsky was not only on Warner Bros.' Radar for
Man Of Stee, it seems he was actually a "finalist", and it came down to he and Zack Snyder for the gig.
"Snyder’s three subsequent Warners films — Watchmen, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole and Sucker Punch — disappointed. However, while giving him Man of Steel (over the other finalist, Darren Aronofsky), Robinov took out insurance with producer Christopher Nolan, the studio’s most important filmmaker (Batman, Inception)." Aronofsky is a director that fans have wanted to see helm a CBM (probably because the man is incapable of making a bad movie) for a very long time. He passed on
The Wolverine, but now it seems we also missed out on witnessing his vision for Superman - not that Snyder didn't do a bang up job. Do you think Aronofsky will ever get his hands on a comic book flick? If so, what character would you think he'd do the best job with?
