Not much here really , but being starved of Supes news for a while now, anyone discussing next year's movie is of interest. All we know about Harry Lennix's character in Man Of Steel is that he plays General Swanwick. And for now that's all we're gonna know, because in an interview with Black Film Lennix doesn't go into any details on it. He does however, reveal that he has a "good role" in the movie and that he is a huge Supes fan, sounding very excited to be a part of Snyder's reboot..
Q: And I know you can’t say much on “Man of Steel” but how exciting was it to get that role?
HL: Oh man! “Man of Steel” is going to be a very big deal when it comes out in Christmas of 2013. I was like a kid in a candy shop. Superman has always been my favorite superhero, it’s not even close. I guess a close second would be Spider-Man, but I’ve always been a fan of Superman since I was a little boy. As a teenager I saw the reboot with Christopher Reeve and I’ve watched that many, many times, and the second one with Christopher Reeve many, many times. To be a part of something this traditional and this foundational to the American myth is a great honor and I’m pleased to say I have a good role in it and I was honored to have been a part of the whole process.
Note that Lennix says the movie will be out Christmas 2013, when it actually has a release date of June 14th. It was originally scheduled for release Christmas of this year so maybe that's where he got confused. Or, it's been put back again and it just hasn't been announced yet! Doubtful though. When asked to elaborate on his character, Lennix says he can't go into it. Swanwick isn't based on anyone from the DC comics (that we know of), but back when Lennix was announced as being cast in the role, it did confirm that the military would be playing a big part in the story. Do you think Swanwick will be friend or foe to Superman?
