Superman may have looked awful in Justice League after Warner Bros. gave Henry Cavill a CGI mouth to hide his Mission: Impossible moustache but an argument could be made that we still got the best big screen take on the hero for quite some time. Despite that, there's still no sign of the Man of Steel sequel and a new report claims that Warner Bros.' original plan was to announce that this month.
That's because the response to the character at test screenings was overwhelmingly positive and the studio was hoping to ride a similar amount of positivity from Justice League into its announcement.
Unfortunately, Justice League bombed and the majority of moviegoers became fixated on how terrible his CGI mouth looked. As a result, Warner Bros. has reportedly decided to hold off on the announcement but the plan is still to unveil the movie - which won't be titled Man of Steel 2 - with a release date and director "pretty soon." When exactly that will be obviously remains to be seen.
Still, this is a somewhat positive update and it's good to know that the movie is still in the works. With any luck, Matthew Vaughn will ultimately decide to direct but we'll just have to wait and see...
