Now I have literally no idea just how reliable a source The Examiner is, but the site is reporting that both John Cena and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson are being seriously considered for a role in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. Here are some excerpts from the report in all their hard-to-believe glory:



The latest Hollywood rumblings report that WWE superstar (and upcoming actor) John Cena may be in the running to play Clark Kent, the mild-mannered reporter who takes on the life of a super hero by night.

Prior to Cena's name getting tossed into the mix, there was talk of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson playing the role of Superman in the next yet-to-be-named sequel.

I think it's fair to say that this is bullshit. However, John Cena was once a popular choice with some fans for Captain America (no, I don't know why either) and was rumoured to be in the running at one time. Could the same thing be happenning here? Are Warner Bros really considering the WWE star? And what of The Rock? Although he's proved that he can act, is he right for a role like Clark Kent? Normally I wouldnt bother reporting something like this, but I thought that this would be a fun story to post on a fairly slow news Saturday if only to see just how pissed off those that take it seriously get, lol! Can you imagine it being true!? It would make Superman Returns look like a [frick]ing masterpiece! However, I happen to think that "The Rock" is a great actor and would love to see him in a CBM. (his chemistry with SLJ in The Other Guys was great so something Marvel related might be good) Superman is not right for him and most definitely not Cena though!

Yeah how about no? It's not even REAL! This is bullshit, Snyder and Nolan would NEVER consider a wrestler and a former wrestler for the Man of Steel. They aren't stupid. Well..Nolan's dialouge is usually quite stupid, but when it comes to casting actors they're both pretty damn smart..well y'know except for Bale as Batman.

Even though the Rock and Cena have impressive builds which fit the comicbook version of Superman, they just don't look like Clark Kent/Superman at all. What's next a Star Wars reboot with Luke Skywalker being portrayed by Chris Tucker?

Actually thinking of it now, The Rock's build is closer to Superman, than Cena's. Now Cena playing Bane. That I could see, or even Eddie Brock(Venom). Both characters are musclehead's and not the brightest as compared to Superman.

@symbiote actually Kane for Bane could work. From what I remember from reading Batman comics with Bane in it is that he wasn't some highly intelligent guy, but more of big, strong thug. I could be wrong though. Regardless though if they ever add Bane into a movie please don't butcher him like he was butchered in that "Movie that shall not be named" One word "Bomb".
