I have done extensive work into who should play the next Superman in Chris Nolan and David Goyer's "The Man of Steel" due for release in the summer of 2013 along with a Wonder Woman movie. If there is a new candidate out there then make then known, I have come across every actor suggested for the role and wrote them all down on a big long list and studied each one as if I was a casting director. I took into account, their look (ie do they have a commanding presence that Superman has), their face (ie do they look manly or like a good) and how tall they are (ie at least 6 foot tall as a bare minimum). Taking into account all of these attributes, this is the list I came up with which match these. Some people might not like some of the actors, my favourite is Henry Cavill. Let me know what you think.
Brandon Routh
Played the role of Superman in Bryan Singer's "Superman Returns" and has the right look of Superman, also resembling the late Christopher Reeve which I don't think nobody has mentioned yet? Nolan has said that he wants an all star cast and Routh won't be cast but when he see's the picking on the acting front, could he be persuaded to change his mind?
Henry Cavill
Definately listed as Hollywood's "nearly-man" after missing out on major roles to the winnder. Has missed out on playing James Bond, losing out to Daniel Craig. He also missed out to Brandon Routh as Superman in "Superman Returns", Josh Hartnet in "Batman vs Superman" and was offered the role in McG's "Superman: Flyby" but that was dropped for Superman Returns. Is this Cavill's chance to take the role before it is too late?
Jared Padalecki
Has also been linked to the Superman role before, linked to the "Superman: Flyby" which Cavill was offered. Padalecki has the right look of Superman and has sci fi experience with a role on the critically acclaimed "Supernatural" of the CW.
Daniel Cudmore
A quiet man in Hollywood with nothing much heard since he played Colossus in the X-Men film trilogy. Cudmore though, could be much like Chris Evans in revising a comic book role as Superman. Cudmore has the right look, build, presence and acting credentials to play Superman.
Channing Tatum
Tatum is quickly becoming a big name in hollywood after big name films such as "Dear John" which showed Tatum's acting quality and Comic Book Movie "GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra", Tatum has the height, look and commanding presence that Superman has, but with comic book fans not liking the "90210 casting" that sometimes happens, could Tatum never get the role?
Ryan McPartlin
Missed on the role of Steve Rodgers/Captain America to Chris Evans, could he instead get an even bigger role as Superman in the reboot. He is blonde, but has the height, look and presence to be Superman and what is that what a bit of hair dye couldn't solve.
Sam Worthington
Nolan did say that he wanted an all star line up, like he did with "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight" and what he will do with "Batman 3". Worthington definately fits the bill with massive movie hits to his name such as "Avatar" the highest grossing film of all time, "Terminator Salvation", "Clash of the Titans" to name some. Belive it or not, he is also 6'2, has a commanding presence and could be the new Superman.
