Michael B. Jordan Addresses Rumors That WB Wants Him To Be The Next SUPERMAN

Is Henry Cavill truly done playing the Man of Steel? No one knows for sure at the moment. However, last fall, Deadline reported that WB had Michael B. Jordan high atop the list of potential replacements.

Last September, it was reported by Deadline that WB wanted Michael B. Jordan to be the next Superman.

"Yeah, that was a rumor, I heard that. I think just to be in those conversations, it's flattering," said Jordan while appearing on Oprah Winfrey's OWN talk show.

When asked if he 'would like to be Superman', Jordan responded, "It's tough. I hate being a businessman and understanding both sides of the situation. I think there's a huge upside to it but just being under that microscope and being picked apart and compared to so many different versions of Superman, I would rather do something original."

Before completely writing it off, Jordan said he'd be game to play a recent creation of Grant Morrison, Calvin Ellis; a black Superman from the parallel reality of Earth-23. With Sony currently riding the wave of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse's acclaim and box office success, perhaps WB is taking notice?

If the DCEU had an established Multiverse it could be in the works but it hasn't, so it isn't possible yet.

@NinnesMBC - I feel like DCWB really missed an opportunity to be different from Marvel by establishing the idea of the Multiverse, that they’d have their core movies, but by setting other movies on different Earths they could still take risks, but also open the door to team up movies of various Supermen- Imagine WB doing a Rouge One and having Cavill meet Reeves, even briefly.

I could already have seen before the start of an Alternate Earth movie, we’d get the DCEU animation, but then cuts too “Meanwhile on Earth 45” so they’d be connected but seperate all the same

@L0RDbuckethead - aint no one mad bro! Its a good/funny/relevant pic - just look at the response below! Bottom line - itll never happen - at least not for a while - but for me as a black guy- that fact that its a distinct possibility and that they're even talking about it...is a win. But realtalk - if they went with the normal iteration of superman in "this" universe - then they should do a STEEL character first and make him a badass. Have you seen Reign of Supermen animations?? Something like that. Just my 2pence...

He's a very charismatic actor. I don't think he's a good fit for Supes. I'd love him as John Stewart though.

@SwampThing - I could see that, although I think a slightly older actor would work better

@dracula - well apparently John is gonna be a bit younger in the GLC movie so that Hal can play the mentor role, so it could work 🤷🏽‍♂️
