More From Mark Millar on Superman!

The comic book writer shares his thoughts on nearly making a Superman movie and how he'd handle a reboot of the franchise...

In the video from IGN Movies, the writer discusses his and Matthew Vaughn's interest in making a Superman movie before the oppurtunity to have creative freedom with Kick-Ass came along as well as his thoughts on why it should be a Batman Begins style reboot and why future movies should avoid putting the Man of Steel in a hospital bed as Bryan Singer's Superman Returns did...

What do you think? Were Miller and Vaughn the right men to return Superman to big screen glory or is Chris Nolan the better choice? Have your say in the usual place!

I think Nolan is the way to go. Millar should do as he said and stick to his own properties.

Don't really know if a "Begins" style is what's best. It worked for Batman because we hadn't seen his origin told on screen yet, we have for Superman.

Reboot, skip the origin, leave it to the opening credit scene, get Brainiac in there, and pay JJ Abrams to get behind the camera, INSTANT AWESOMENESS!

Great stuff!

BRANDON ROUTH for SUPES!!! But skip the [frick]ing origin??

Hell they can't use most of the ORIGIN anyways WTF lol??

If he gets to do this (at least in a screenwriting capacity. Directing would be a surprise)I'm interested in where it'll go. I still think the cast of Returns should get another shot.

Shaman: Ah, you know I'd like to see Routh come back, but I just don't see it happening. If I had any say into the film, it would be a Routhboot by Abrams though :)

I would say Christopher Nolan at first, but he never said how he would treat the franchise and how he would depict Superman in his vision of the film, so I have to give it to Nolan for now.

Thanks guys! :)

I'm with TYLER that the best guy to head up the next Superman movie is J.J. Abrams - unlike Singer's pathetic take on the character, you can almost guarantee that he's nail both the action and emotional stuff!

Guys, check out my VENOM/CARNAGE Fan Cast! Just click the link!!! :)

kale38@ I agree with you on the fight scenes, but no so much with the choice of Routh. He was good for the look-alike quality of Chrisopher Reeve, but not for the reboot. The best kind of Superman these people need to look for is one that looks like Jim Lee's Superman: Muscular, the looks of a leader, and a Superman that looks awesome in the suit.

I second that Tyler! As long as it's not Burton's view of Brainiac, it would be epic! And for the sequel, Rufus Sewell for ZOD!!!! The trilogy could end with Doomsday or Darkseid!!! Lets see Sups kick some ass for once!!!

Save Doomsday for Superman 3.

Shaman: Yep, I say do a mix of the cartoon Brainiac, and the comic Brainiac. Have the cartoon's origin and mechanical design, but also include a bit of an organic side like in the comics and Milton Fine.

Here is my basic summary for my ideal reboot:

Introduce Brainiac as being connected to Krypton and its destruction, have Darkseid discover Brainiac partially destroyed after the destruction and rebuild him to be his technological resource and weapon for Apokolips, Brainiac rebels against Darkseid and destroys half of Apokolips in his wake after learning about the Anti-Life Equation, Brainiac travels the galaxy while gathering more information and data about the universe as he goes, he finds Earth and recognizes Supes as the Last Son of Krypton, they eventually duke it out, Brainiac is defeated (but not completely destroyed), ending leaves a cliffhanger foreshadowing Darkseid's invasion of Earth because he is looking for Brainiac since he supposedly has secrets pertaining to the Equation, boom, set up for Justice League right there.

Obviously it's a bit low on the details in between Brainiac's arrival on Earth and the final fight, but it's just a general overview.

Don't know if MI4 is going to get made in the long run, but Trek 2 definitely would be an obstacle in the way of an Abrams Superman.

Even if MI4 does get made, Abrams is only going to be a producer, not the director.

Mark Millars idea was actually very interesting from what ive read around the web. But I have to say that I too am on the JJ Abrams bandwagon. Too bad he seems to be all booked up these days.
