Nicolas Cage Believes His SUPERMAN Days Are Behind Him - But Thinks He'd Make A Great Lex Luthor

At 54 years of age, actor Nicolas Cage is fully aware that he probably won't be suiting up as The Man of Steel again, but what about his nemesis Lex Luthor? Find out what Cage had to say after the jump...

Nicolas Cage was famously (or infamously, if you prefer) cast as The Man of Steel in Tim Burton's now defunct Superman Lives, and while the 54-year-old actor is aware that his days of suiting up in the iconic red cape are probably behind him, that doesn't mean he's lost his love for the mythology.

During an interview with The Guardian to promote Mandy, Cage was asked about Burton's project and if he'd have any interest in returning to the role.

“Oh, I think my Superman days are long gone,” he laughs with a little pat of his belly. He would be an amazing villain in it, I reply. His eyes light up. “Oh, that would be GREAT! I’d make a great Lex Luthor!”

Many fans would agree, but that role is currently occupied in The DC Films Universe by Jesse Eisenberg. Then again, with all the uncertainty surrounding Warner Bros.' shared universe, who knows if that'll still be the case in a couple of years time.

What do you guys think? Would you like to see Cage as Lex Luthor? What about a different Superman baddie? Drop us a comment down below... and go watch Mandy!

Oh, I would pay handsomely to see that. Mandy was freaking wild. He can surely pull off "CRAZY FREAKING EVIL!"

Nic Cage needs to play a crazy villain like Osborn of Luthor. Hope he gets the chance.

I still think Superman Lives should be animated and the characters should look like the real life cast - with Tim Burton directing and Cage doing voice of Supes.

An UNHINGED Lex from Cage would be a riot. He does unhinged better than most.

Have him buff up a bit and do an All Star Superman Lex.
