According to an interview executive producer Kelly Souders gave to TV Guide, the season premiere of Smallville will conclude with a powerful twist that impacts deeply on Clark Kent.

"[The twist] rocks [Clark's] world and sends him on a different trajectory," Souders told TV Guide. "He realises that he's not the guy that everybody looks to when they think of Superman. [From that point on he will struggle to become] an inspirational totally pure-hearted guy. That's not who Clark Kent is right now, and that becomes very clear to him."

the twist-is that the previous nine seasons where total bollocks,clark has come to relize how much truth is actually in the evidence.

makes sense that they should start it off with a twist, something to get clark moving on the path we all know he winds up on. It's kinda funny though, everyone in his inner circle have been telling him exactly what it is he winds up discovering for himself at the end of the season premiere, so I guess he could've saved everybody about 4 seasons of time if he listened back then, lol. you can see chloe, green arrow, lana, and lois talking behind his back now: "superman? ha! more like super knucklehead!!! sheesh!!" lol

Is the twist that he realises that he could, and should, have become Superman (or at least learned how to fly) at least 3/4 seasons ago!? Although Smallville has had some great moments in the past few years, it's felt like they were dragging the whole thing out since season 5/6 at least IMO. Hopefully this final season won't do the same and we'll actually get to see something a little more Superman for more than just the last few minutes! :P

f*ck that,i couldn't slag of smallville for another ten seasons.

the twist should be killing off this lame superman for putting us through "superman returns" for going on 10 goddamn seasons...i find it funny that anyone who had a lil acting ability bailed on this show years ago....what did we get in return u ask...green arrow and hawkeye with really bad "bale-batman" groggy voice rippoffs...an emo snow kid...jett jackson as cyborg??? really???...i cant believe ppl still watch this show regularly...i hadnt watched the show since like the 3rd season and then watched the jsa episode...i cant believe how bad the actin and writting has become...pure garbage...one day we will hav a respectable man of steel on the big screen

I think Smallville did a lot to bring Suoerheroes to the masses. appreciate it for that and it is getting better.

Although I am a fan of Smallville...they always bollox things up with there repeated ideas. A twist... thats no twist....he already acts that way..what way is that.....? They make it seem like he is not pure hearted..what a load of bollox! On the show he is the one with the nearly pure heart while everybody else Green Arrow, Chloe, etc are telling him he needs to get his hands a little dirty at times.

BMAN@ wow i cant believe i drew a total blank on Joe Mad...dude his run on ultimates 3 had 2 be his best work in my opinion..the story was lackin..but the art and painted colors = epic!..he needs 2 take a break from gamin and get back 2 comics!
