The Death Of Superman was a huge comic storyline back in 1992. Now, fast forward to 2018, and DC's animated department is taking a swing at the Man of Steel and his demise.

Here's the official synopsis of the upcoming straight-to-DVD film.

When a hulking monster emerges from an underground resting place and begins a mindless rampage, the Justice League is quickly called in to stop the colossal force of nature. But it soon becomes apparent that only Superman can stand against the monstrosity that has been nicknamed Doomsday. Battling their way throughout America, the two fight to a standstill as they reach the heart of Metropolis. Going punch for punch, Superman finally ends the threat of Doomsday as he throws one last punch and collapses forever.

Doomsday is a force of nature no one wants to deal with. Not even Superman. So here's the full trailer below.

This will actually be a two-part feature. Reign of the Superman will be released sometime early 2019, while The Death of Superman will be released on Blu-Ray on August 7th, 2018.

@aflynn - Didnt watch the trailer yet but I already know its going to suck becuz all recent dc movies have sucked or are terribly average.

I believe the previous adaptation was already pretty accurate to the source minus all the cheesy stuff with pa kents spirit bringing back superman's soul and the long ass filler issues with the fake supermen.

@mastakilla39 - Literally the only thing it had in common with the original was Superman died fighting Doomsday and a clone of Superman was later involved. Also the sake supermen is like half the story, which is why the second part of this will be Reign of the Supermen lol

Just make a movie the same way you do the animated films. I don't know why DC just can't get it right they make crap live action movies but great animated films.

@Superspecialawesomeguy - Keep in mind, the New 52 is still Rebirth canon. It's possible when Superman comes back he'll have his Rebirth appearance. Even if he doesn't I always thought the New 52 designs were good for the most part.

@Nightwing1015 - Yeah that's what I figured they were gonna do after he died, they were switching to a more rebirth look once he gets brought back.

Batman Ninja was the last straw, until this one comes out lol. Seriously though that was the worst DCAU movie ever! Jesus......

@bobevanz - Was Batman Ninja set in the DCAU? I thought it was its own thing.
