Yesterday evening, the news broke that Superman: Legacy has added Portuguese Victoria's Secret model Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, with The Righteous Gemstones actor Skyler Gisondo set to play Jimmy Olsen (a role that many fans have already said he was born to play).
Since then, filmmaker James Gunn has taken to Instagram to confirm their casting in a post that reads, "After auditioning hundreds of folks for both of these roles, we finally found perfect fits with both [Skyler] and [Sara]! Can't wait for you guys to see them in action the summer of '25!"
They've both also reacted to joining the new DCU, with Sampaio saying, "I can finally share the best news ever! It doesn’t even feel real! Thank [James Gunn] for trusting me with Eve!"
Gisondo, meanwhile, would add, "So grateful to [James Gunn] and [DC] for this incredible opportunity. Stoked for the adventure."
Tellingly, Gunn has made no mention of Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor. Earlier this week, it was reported that he'd been tapped to play the iconic DC Comics supervillain, though some outlets later said he was simply in final talks. Clearly, the deal still isn't done, meaning Superman: Legacy doesn't have its Lex...yet.
Check out those social posts regarding the movie's latest casting additions below.
Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.
David Corenswet is playing the Man of Steel, while Rachel Brosnahan has been tapped to star as Lois Lane. Other recent casting additions include Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, and now, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen.
It's also been reported that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Kurt Russell may be in the running for Jor-El (there's no word on Ma and Pa Kent or whether they're even alive in this iteration of Clark Kent's story). There's currently no word on who is playing Brainiac following rumours he'll serve as the reboot's big bad.
Superman: Legacy is currently set to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025.
