A previous rumor named Skyler Gisondo as a contender to play Jimmy Olsen in Superman: Legacy, and we're now hearing that the actor has progressed to James Gunn and DC Studios' "top choice" to play Clark Kent's best pal.
Gisondo will likely be best known for playing Gideon in The Righteous Gemstones, but he has plenty of credits to his name, with roles in the likes of Vacation, Booksmart, Liquorice Pizza, and both The Amazing Spider-Man movies.
Gisondo seems to be a very popular pick to play Jimmy, but it's best to keep in mind that this is very much just a rumor for the time being. If he does land the role, he'll join David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.
Of course, this Superman reboot will also feature many other characters (see below), but Jimmy, Lois, and Perry White are expected to be integral to Clark Kent's story.
“Superman: Legacy is the true foundation of our creative vision for the DC Universe. Not only is Superman an iconic part of DC lore, he is also a favorite character for comic book readers, viewers of earlier movies, and fans around the world," said Gunn during the DCU slate announcement. "I can’t wait to introduce our version of Superman who audiences will be able to follow and get to know across films, movies, animation and gaming.”
Superman: Legacy will also star Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho. Casting is currently underway for Lex Luthor and Perry White.
Production is currently scheduled to commence next January.
