New Details On When TEEN TITANS TV Series Begins Production, Faithfulness, Tone, And More
It's been a while since we've heard anything about TNT's plans for Titans, but network president Kevin Reilly talks here about when production is expected to begin and the unique - but still comic book faithful - direction that writer Akiva Goldsman is planning to take with the property...
While it's become apparent that we won't see Titans on TV this year, you'll be relieved to find out that the DC Comics adaptation is far from dead! TV Line caught up with TNT President Kevin Reilly to ask him about its current status, and things are sounding good...if not a little slow moving!
Akiva Goldsman is writing the pilot with Marc Haimes, and rumour has it that Nightwing will be a lead character with Barbara Gordon, Hawk, Dove, Raven, and Starfire joining him. "Akiva’s been very busy doing some other things," he revealed before adding that they hope it will be "maybe this summer" that they start casting and ramping up production. With no superhero TV shows currently airing in the summer, Titans debuting in 2016 would actually be a great idea.
"I sat down with Akiva and said — and he ultimately agreed — that the [TV] landscape right now is well-serviced on the superhero front. So what space is this going to inhabit? And really what he wants to do is be very true to the source material." Whenever it does end up coming together, Riley sounds excited about what it will bring to the network. "I think it’s going to end up being a very, very interesting offering. I think it’s going to be excellent." What do you guys think?
