BOX OFFICE: Will The NINJA TURTLES Karate Chop The GUARDIANS Down To #2 This Weekend?

Analysts are predicting a very close race to #1 at the North American box office this weekend as Guardians of the Galaxy and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles go head to head. It's early days, but right now it appears as if the Michael Bay helmed reboot may just win...

As of right now, it appears as if Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will take the top spot at the North American box office this weekend. However, it's going to face some serious competition in the form of Guardians of the Galaxy as analysts believe that both movies will hit somewhere around the $45 million mark. While these analysts are favouring TMNT as of right now, word of mouth is going to play a huge role on which movie wins. Should the Michael Bay produced reboot not be well-received during Thursday and Friday's showings, it's likely that Guardians - which has so far earned $117.95 million domestically - will come out on top. So far, James Gunn's Marvel movie has attracted a lot of over 25's, perhaps as a result of the edgy humour. TMNT appeals to a much younger audience AND those nostalgic to the characters they grew up with. Combine that with a big marketing push and it's going to be close! However, Captain America: The Winter Soldier easily topped Rio 2 earlier this year. When it comes to word of mouth though, Guardians of the Galaxy has 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has only 33%. What do you guys think?

Well, audiences consistently prove that they like paying money for crap (see: every Transformers movie), so I won't be surprised at all to see TMNT knocking GotG down a spot.

I look forward to your review blackandyellow.

as for this, I imagine Guardians comes out on top. Which is sad for me because I care about the turtles more. Their look isnt all that great and I hear a lot of people make the same complaints. I can't imagine this isn't the friendliest kid movie either when there are Megan Fox ass shots in it.

Great minds think alike!

I usually never see movies twice in the theaters, but I can't stop thinking about the movie.

Given how many people actually think Bay directed this given how much he's attached to the production, the actual guy will likely never be associated with this

I say let the Turtles get some shell action. Guardians will make wads of cash regardless what happens but I have a feeling Ninja Turtles won't be as bad as these critics are making it out to be. It's Teenage Mutant Minja Turtles? lol How can you crucially judge it that bad?!

Lol, And why does it matter if it does or doesn't? Guardians is still bound to be a box office success.

The scary thing is that the Director is actually worst than Michael Bay.

One of the reasons why the studious are not even marketing his name.

Seriously TMNT is not Michael Bay helmed. That's like saying Transformers is Stephen Spielberg helmed. That's a deceiving teaser, Josh.

Um, I'm not concerned about the numbers like I use to be. GOTG is a great movie. Don't know about TMNT, but it doesn't look well.
