TWITTER BUZZ: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ( TMNT )

The internet is absolutely aflame with anti-Michael Bay sentiments as the polarizing filmmaker announced his not-so-well received vision for The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action movie. Here are some of the most poignant and hilarious responses from the world of Twitter.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

[I totally agree with this sentiment!]

And here's Conan's take on what a Michael Bay [not actually, b/c Bay isn't directing] TMNT movie will look-like.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (abbreviated as TMNT and simplified as Ninja Turtles) are a team of four teenage anthropomorphic turtles, who were trained by their anthropomorphic rat sensei in the art of ninjutsu and named after four Renaissance artists. From their home in the storm sewers of New York City, they battle petty criminals, evil megalomaniacs, and alien invaders, all while remaining isolated from society-at-large. The characters initially appeared in comic books before being licensed for toys, cartoons, video games, films, and other merchandise. During the peak of its popularity in the late 1980s through early 1990s, the franchise gained considerable worldwide success and fame.

Michael Bay's a god! His movies are awesome , and this is a GREAT idea. Turtles, like giant alien robot people ,are from outer space. Darwin was WRONG! Evolution had nothing to do with turtle's on planet Earth. They hich-hiked on an errant asteroid millions of years ago.
Bay understands this! Get off his back...jerks!
Their deep space martial art fore-fathers are coming to visit.

What's wrong with that?

I heard the movie is just gonna be called "Ninja Turtles" Problem solved. If you are mad about what they are doing with this movie then it's not intended for you. Either get over it or don't see it. Either way just stop whining. You don't own it.

Check out fan-fic. TMNT screenplay. They're NOT aliens.

@xNightWingx

That sounds resonable, except for one problem: there are ninjas in space?

Well, jedis are concidered to be similar to samurais; but they are not called samurais. So in retrospect calling the movie "Ninja Turtles" is a bit of a stretch.

Solution: Alien Turtles. That way the fan community of TMNT will silence and we won't get into a long debate as to whether or not the Turtles are ninjas or not.

Teenage Alien Ninja Turtles, one letter off from the acronym for this being Taint. And a smelly taint it shall be.

Who cares? Who cares?... Well obviously everybody cares!xD

What about if Batman wouldnt be Batman but Birdman?
What about if Superman would come from Mars and not from Krypton?
What about if Spider-Man would not be Spider-Man but Fly-Man?

I mean who cares right?! Its all just fiction!;)

Somebody at my work made a good point: How can they be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turltes if they're no longer going to be Mutants? Instead of TMNT it's going to be TANT. Or as someone else chimed in, Teenage Alien Intelligent Turtles or TAINT. Seriously?!

@Avalanche731
Agree to an extent (I didn't really find Revenge of the Fallen all to satisfying, just a big waste of time).

Might as well make Superman being a human gaining super powers or all the cast of the Star Wars original trilogy into Jar Jar Binks while the turtles are aliens rather than mutants.

@Alex

Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man are all icons that have been around for 50+years. TMNT was a crappy comic in the 80's that nobody really even knew about until they made a cheesy cartoon in '87. Not really comparable.

AlexDeLarge87 - 3/22/2012, 8:28 AM

Space turtles? I hear that and immediately think Gamera for some reason...As far as the movie reboot goes....Man,the temptation to make an Expendables-type of ensemble movie using martial-arts movie legends as bad guys would get my money....
