I think that image you've included is just a promotional celebration of the first 100 issues that takes part of the 100th cover and puts it over all 100. This seems to be the actual 100th:

Anyway, great series. I'm a bit behind, but it has been a pleasure to see the franchise treated with such respect. Tom Waltz is the best thing to happen to TMNT in ages.

@BIGBMH - According to my PR contact the image and video were the official unveil of the comic. I have however found when looking the comic up through some of my subscriptions that it has at least two different variant covers, one of which is the one you displayed above. This has me thinking that there will be at least three different covers available...

@NateBest - Gotcha. Makes sense as a variant.

@NateBest - I might be wrong but that cover doesn't look like Laird and Eastman. My guess is their collaboration will be a variant cover not yet revealed. But again, I could be wrong and just don't see it. :(

I think what this franchise needs is a greater and more interesting variety of villains beyond Shredder and his goons. For example, they could introduce a rival but evil group of ninja fighters like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Armadillos (another animal known for its protective shell). The TMNT writers should grow their rogues gallery to include interesting villains that are not one dimensional. This is what makes or breaks any comic book series.

@Forthas - Shredder has been dead since issue 50. The comic has arguably elevated Krang and Agent Bishop to Shredder's level and established the immortal Pantheon as an even higher level threat. There's also Old Hob, Hun, and Baxter Stockman who are at some points lower-level villains and at some points anti-heroes or neutral characters.

The threats of the series fall into a handful of overlapping, interconnected areas:
- Ninja (Shredder and the Foot)
- Mutant (Hob and Leatherhead at times although neither are full-on evil, Bebop, Rocksteady and other mutant working for the Foot)
- Mystic (The Pantheon including Rat King, Kitsune and their siblings of varying morality)
- Street Crime (Hun and the Purple Dragons when he leads them, Darius Dun and the Street Phantom)
- Alien/Extradimensional (Krang)
- Governmental (Agent Bishop)
- Corporate/Technological (Baxter Stockman)

Each of these areas has the potential for expansion and there could certainly stand to be an expanded, stronger roster, but I think the franchise and this series especially deserve credit for what they have developed beyond Shredder.

Not saying it's been perfect (some of the plot points really drag on and on), but this iteration of the Turtles has certainly been the most consistently well written and enjoyable.

Can't wait for #100, and what lays beyond.

@Reeds2Much - Agreed. There are points when I lose interest, but at it's good enough to keep me coming back. It's ok at worst and damn great at its best. I'm kind of hoping it'll wrap up within the next few years so it can go out while it's still a strong series.

You guys should watch this interview with Alan Ritchson (Raphael). He absolutely shits on the production of the movies and you can see why they were shit:

@Himura - I'm sorry for going off-topic, but damn, I want him as Superman a lot. Ritchson/Pattinson would be a great foundation for a World's Finest movie (and entire DC cinematic universe if we can even talk about them having one universe instead of a loose handful). He's got that inescapable boyishness that I really yearn for in a Superman casting.

@Spock0Clock - I still think he wouldve made a great Shazam
