DEADPOOL 2 Star Ryan Reynolds Wanted To Play The Wally West Version Of THE FLASH

There was a time when Ryan Reynolds had his choice of superhero movie roles and the actor has now revealed that he once hoped to bring the Wally West version of The Flash to the big screen. Take a look...

When Ryan Reynolds was cast in Green Lantern, he was a hot commodity and could have chosen any number of superhero roles. Unfortunately, that movie nearly killed his career but he rebounded with Deadpool and has earned back his A-List status as one of Hollywood's most must-see actors.

At Comic-Con this weekend to promote the upcoming Blu-ray release of Deadpool 2, the actor was asked about if he'd like to play any other comic book characters and he made a perfect suggestion.

"I would say Wolverine, but God, I would be terrible," he admitted before mentioning the superhero he would actually be an amazing fit for. "Honestly, I wanted to be the Flash, the Wally West version, but I think all of those ships have sailed." Sadly, Reynolds is probably right but it would have been a lot of fun seeing that version of the Scarlet Speedster brought to the big screen by him a few years back.

Once upon a time, it was said that we might see Reynolds' Green Lantern team up with Bradley Cooper's Flash in a movie but the DC Extended Universe has changed a lot since those rumours first surfaced and it's now Ezra Miller who will race into a solo movie as the Fastest Man Alive one day.

He would've looked good as both Barry and Wally.

He would've been a solid Wally. It never made sense to me why they made him Green Lantern. It'd be like casting Cavill as the Riddler.

Meh, not a fan of him as any iteration of the Flash. I could see him as a few DC characters though.

However you slice it he’d be better then Miller. Lord other than Cavils upper lip Miller was the worst part of justice league for me.

He did play Wally West. Only he was in a Green Lantern suit and called himself Hal Jordan.

Meh after reading Geoff Johns' Flash runs with both Wally and Barry, the two really aren't that much different from one another. Plus, people need to get used to the fact that Barry is The Flash now.

Would be great, but glad he is Deadpool...and i'm sure he is too lolol.

Also, I loved his casting as Hal Jordan. HORRENDOUS film, but he could have been perfect if it had a better director, writer, and just everything else.

@Menks123 - really bums me out how many of the really bad cbm's have otherwise great casts. Cough Fan4stick Cough.

Literally took the most interesting character off House of Cards for that one, and the show hasn't been good since (which after last fall I guess that's for the better).

I thought this was common knowledge. I can remember this site reporting this back when it was originally going to happen. Right around the time of Batman Begins, David S. Goyer wrote a Flash movie with Wally West Flash and Reynolds was set to play Wally. The movie never panned out though...WB passed on it.

He would've been perfect. While I thought he was capable of playing a decent Hal, I was disappointed when that casting was announced because I really wanted to see him as Wally.

As a side note, it's so strange to have grown up in the Wally West era and to now see the character essentially sidelined in favor of showcasing Barry.

I didn't like his Hal Jordan, though he would have been perfect as Wally West or Kyle Raynor.

It's not too late to ditch Ezra Miller or Kiersey Clemons. Just saying.
