How Awesome is The Flash TV show right now??

Let's talk about how TV is finally getting a comic book property right!

I've always been a Flash fan.  From the red and yellow costume to his super speed to the fact that he can time travel, Barry Allen/Wally West has always been a favorite chracter of mine.  When they announced they were gonna introduce the character in Arrow last year in a back door pilot I was super excited but then they decided to only introduce Barry before he got struck by lightning and save The Flash for his own pilot I was bummed because we had to wait.  Then they showed the teaser during an episode of Arrow...
 
 
 
...And I was amped!
 
Flash forward(see how i did that?) to the present and this first season of The Flash has started off awesome!  With the Flash vs Arrow crossover to the introductions of Reverse-Flash and Firestorm the pace of this season is sooooo much better than how Arrow's first season started off.  It took me about 15 episodes to really get into Arrow but I'm glad it got better.  Now that The Flash has came along, as much as I like like Arrow, I like the Flash that much more. Last night's episode was a banger with the feature of Firestorm which was great.  They took a relatively slept on character whose only real notoriety was when he was featured on the Super Powers animated series back in the 80's and made him really come alive on this show.  A lesser show probably would have waited until season 2 to start introducing major characters such as him but the show runners seem really confident in their ability to craft a great character story which ultimately creates a great show.  Some other sites around the web seem to be nervous about introducing the time travel element to casual viewers so soon but I have confidence in their abilities to do it justice.  Now I guess the question will be once CBS introduces Supergirl will we have the TV version of Justice League with:
 
The Flash
Arrow
The Atom
FireStorm
Supergirl
Black Canary
 
Great TV line up.  If they do they have to do a big budget TV movie and do it on CBS to get the widest audience.  That would be awesome!  Hey, Fanboy's can dream right?  We got Spider-man to appear in the MCU!
 
I'm so loving the Flash right now.  Flash >>> Arrow.

Flash was just ok up until this weeks episode where it felt like the story was actually progressing on all fronts, so i really enjoyed it. Looking forward to up coming episodes.

With Supergirl crossovers being shot down, or at least interviews made it clear no crossover to DCW, Vixen has a better chance in being in the trinity.

I keep trying to like it but literally EVERY SINGLE TIME I start to get into an episode it breaks for some ridiculous love story. I mean this weak... a handicapped man, Barry's mentor no less, and a girl are staking outhe a dangerous, unhinged metahuman with barely controlled fire powers (that are kind of, you know destructive) and Barry is on a date. I have the same problem with Arrow. The live stories are such a big part of the shows that it completely takes me out of it. I don't have a problem with the characters having love interests, that's great, but it's so poorly done and just in the way. It almost feels like one group of writers does the super hero stuff and a different group writes the love parts. For me it's jarring.

@Carl Who's gay in Flash? The police chief mentioned his boyfriend in one sentence in one episode but besides that I don't recall there being other gay characters. Straight couples we get like new one in every episode but gays...am I forgetting someone? Anyway, show is great IMO, much better than I expected, Brandon Rotuh's Atom looks also promesing in his exosuit, the SFX is also pretty good for a tv-show.

but grant gustin and the guy who plays eddie are in rl, and im guessing the guy who plays joe.
Eddie is incredibly obvious though and its painful to watch, the other two are w/e really because they play straight guys pretty well.

For everyone that is complaining about the love stories, that's how tv drama works. Especially for the large demographic that arrow and flash are going for. It can't always be action, action, action. This is how they create drama for the casual tv audience.

The love stories are on the same level as Greys Anatomy. Seriously, its the same level of "please god make it stop!" I watched a lot of Greys with my mother and sister, kind of that hanging out with mom time. The CW shows take from the same book. Its really bad.

One of the biggest and most persistently wrong complaints about Agents of Shield was that it was a Procedural show and that it was simply a Villain of the week format. I find that when im watching Arrow and especially the Flash that this is definitely the case. Arrow has the over arching story of who killed Barry's moom.... and that's pretty much it. Theres no hero journey like Arrow has or that we are getting with Sky/Daisey/quake. Barry is still Barry from the 1st episode, there is no growth or character arc to speak of. Flash looks good and it is definitely a comic show but that's really all that's going on. Theres nothing under the surface. At some point they will cross over for a T.V Justice League and it will be cool, but theres been no real development or growth in the characters or the world they inhabit. Its "oooh look its THIS character or oooooh look, so and so is going to become so and so". That's all the Flash is.
