The Reverse-Flash Appearing In THE FLASH Season 2 Is Not From Earth-2

When it was revealed that the Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscher version) was returning in the second season of The Flash, many fans theorized that it would be an Earth-2 version of the supervillain. Nope. It will be the same Reverse-Flash from season 1...kind of.

The Reverse-Flash returns in the eleventh episode of season 2, conspicuously titled.... "The Reverse Flash Returns".  When this news broke, many fans theorized that we would be seeing an Earth-2 version of the character as the alternate reality has already presented viewers with several Central City doppelgangers.  However, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg states that's not the case for The Flash's season one nemesis.  "Time on our show does not unfold linearly.  Sometimes you’ve seen events from one direction and then you start to see them from the other. This Reverse-Flash is not exactly the Reverse-Flash that we saw disintegrate at the end of the year. It’s a Reverse-Flash from an earlier timeline. It’s not the Earth-Two Reverse-Flash, it’s the Reverse-Flash. That is, hands down, one of our best episodes."

How does the Reverse-Flash return from an earlier timeline? At some point during season one, does the Reverse-Flash race to the future to see how his evil plan turns out? Does Zoom pluck Reverse-Flash out of the past to torment Barry in the future.

We'll have to wait until the Reverse-Flash returns in the January 26th episode of The Flash.

I don't understand how Eddie's sacrifice worked then.

I don't get it. I mean, the reason Eobard went out wasn't because he went back in time and then died. We can't meet the version of him that has not yet gone back in time. He doesn't exist. Because of Eddie, he's never born.

Yeah... Did they borrow Fox the guy working on the continuity of their X-men movies ?

I do not get it, so this is earth 1 eobard...but not the earth 1 eobard who got wiped from existance... you know what I don't care, I'm just glad he's back. So far Zoom has been so [frick]ing boring.

Well shit, I would explained in spanish sorry guys xD: La muerte de Eddie correctamente provocó que Eobard dejara de existir, pero eso causó una paradoja espacio-tiempo y por eso apareció la singularidad, la cual tenia como propósito eliminar la linea de tiempo por los problemas que todos apuntan(si Eobard no existe entonces la madre de Barry estaría viva, Barry no se convertiría en Flash, Eobard no viajaría en el tiempo y todas esas cosas.....una paradoja), sin embargo, Fash y Firestorm hicieron lo imposible y la detuvieron, por eso todo esta intacto y a consecuencia de eso Eobard aun puede seguir existiendo en el pasado ya que sus acciones no se eliminaron porque la singularidad fue detenida.

I'm thinking this is going to be the Reverse-Flash that hasn't gone back in time to kill Barry's mom yet-- the one who's just starting to become the Flash's arch-nemesis.

That would be an interesting conundrum... This time, the tables would be turned. BARRY would hate THAWNE for reasons that Thawne wouldn't understand, because he hadn't taken those actions yet... just like THAWNE hated BARRY for reasons he never understood, because he hadn't become the Flash yet.

I loved season one, but now I totally lost interest.

Not sure why.

Maybe Barry realized that he needs to go back in time to stop the season 1 version of himself from saving his mom?

@kevberg Patty and Barry chemistry is out the charts right now, but to be fair, the writers are being doing a solid job with Iris, she´s not annoying as the first season and has been delivering excellent performances.

I have a feeling this return will play out just as disappointingly as Slade's return in Arrow Season Three did.

I'm just going to assume this will take the Comic book route of "Time Travel makes no sense" and just leave it at that.

Also: This is so going to be a small adaptation of "The Return of Barry Allen!"

Surely the Reverse FLash's return has to be Zoom's doing which means Barry will hopefully succeed saving Patty by time traveling or with Wally already having Superspeed coming to free her from her tight restraints while the Scarlet Speedster keeps ZOom preoccupied

Zoom is Jay Garrick. Yeah, you hear that here first!

If he says it's an earlier timeline, then we're probably going to see the events from the original timeline that caused him to hate Barry and go back in time to kill him.

@DCeddie Not necessarily. The timeline was going to be wiped out by the singularity, but since they stabilized it, they managed to keep their reality going. Changing the future from that point on.

Lol I don't know, they can do anything. I do agree that Eddie is Zoom, but Eddie from Earth 2.
