Thoughts On Flash Debuting in Arrow; How Does This Affect Booster Gold?

Wow, unexpected news today. We learned that not only will Barry Allen be a supporting character in season two of Arrow, but he will also be getting his own TV series and maybe still a movie. What does this mean for Booster Gold, Amazon and the rest of the DC Universe? Click on to read my thoughts.

Ever since they announced that they were developing a prequel series on Wonder Woman called Amazon, I've been excited. I thought that'd be a great way to introduce the character of Wonder Woman before Justice League without having to do a movie quite yet.

But today they announced that they were putting that on hold (which probably means it's not going to happen) and that they're focusing on a Flash series, spinning-off from Arrow. While I think I speak for the majority of CMB when I say I'd rather have a full-length franchise film, there's no denying that this has potential.

What I'm wondering is what this means for the Booster Gold series that was revealed to be in development a few months ago (I believe for si-fi, but don't quote me on that). I've always wanted the DC TV shows to be in-continuity with the DC films. That doesn't mean I want Green Arrow and Booster Gold in Justice League, but I think it'd be great to have it all taking place in the same universe.

But with Arrow being a success and The Flash becoming a priority, does this mean Booster Gold is still on the agenda? I doubt it, but I hope so. To have three DC shows to keep up with would be, in a word, legit.

Who knows what they'll do. Maybe they're pushing a Flash TV series so they can focus on bigger names like Batman and Superman, or Wonder Woman. God knows they better get Aquaman right. Anyhoo, while it's not what I would do, I'm excited nonetheless. What do you guys think of today's news and Booster Gold? Sound off in the comment section.

Thanks for reading!

P.S. I wrote a fan fic for a Justice League movie before Batman vs. Superman was announced, and of course it'd have to adjust to that movie, but I'd really appreciate it if you read and commented on that one too. Thanks! http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fan_fic/news/?a=82335

There was already a Live action Wonder Woman show. It was called Xena, and It was Awesome. lol. I think WB is making the right move with starting on the small screen first. Its easy for us to say "Well Marvel did it", but the fact is that Thor, Cap and Hulk would not have been considered successes at WB. Not Dollar and Cents wise, anyway.

Personally, I always thought that comics are better adapted into TV shows than Movies. It's always gonna be hard to cram decades of continuity into 2 hrs. There will always have to be most of it left out. But with a tv show, each episode could be like an issue of the comic book and the stories could be paced very similarly.

I really like Gliderman's idea about having the TV universe an extension of the movie Universe and vise-versa. The events of MoS could have EASILY happened between seasons 1 and 2 if arrow. Theoretically, WB/DC could test the waters and introduce dozens of heroes in this way. Not every show needs to last 10 seasons. Hell, some could even be mini-series! Way lower cost and financial risk than trying to introduce all the characters through movies...

I hate the idea of Flash as a live action TV SHOW. An animated series I would be contempt with.

If Hawkeye slow Arrow shooting standing in one spot during aliens on air spacecraft racers can hang with Avengers and no one really compalins about it, then an Slade Wilson/Shado/Yao Fei trained Oliver Queen who is the quickest arow drawer and shooter and precise aim even with a butter knife that can fight that can fight with martial arts and still draw and arrow and shoot it in the middle of a fight against plenty of odds. I think this version of Ollie can hang in with any body.

ARROW ACTION!!!

@Levitkuz. Don't lose your faith in that writing team. They've done an excellent job without the Jon Peters types getting overly involved like they did with Green Lantern. Not saying Peters has anything to do with anything useful in this world, but there are plenty others like him in Hollywood.

Why the heck would they use the same writing team. God I hope Flash doesn't fail.

I think it is a better idea to introduce a Flash TV show because he really doesn't require that much sfx and his origin story is simple and TV-friendly. Honestly, I think a movie (which would likely be massive with WB) would be a little much. I think saving the movies for heroes like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Aquaman which all require the premier of Hollywood's talent is better. I think that by introducing more secondary characters like Flash, Green Arrow, and Black Canary on TV, they can flush out their characters to the public quicker and cheaper for viewers in the long run.
